No problem with it here, it’s a freedom issue. It will give those of us that avoid it a leg up.

Just like legalized drugs did in China in the 19th century. Of course, a leg up in a dysfunctional country doesn't do you much good.

It was legalized in OR last year and it has almost destroyed my rural county.

I will save this info. A lot of people here who voted to legalize it are now very, very sorry.

I don’t know how relevant that historical account is now, people were far more ignorant then. Everyone is well aware of the downsides now and a much greater percentage of users are lefties so let them have the freedom to become even more moronic and listless.

A doped up population is much easier to control, especially since mj takes all ability to think rationally away and permanently makes people stupid and mentally ill.

I should have said permanently stupid and mentally ill as long as one continues using, although long term users, especially those who started young, do have permanent damage even if they quit.

Your argument is weak when you consider pills are killing people at disturbing rates and they are legal. Trump even called them a national emergency. In Florida, I voted for medical marijuana because how can I tell a 70 year old cancer patient that she must suffer. Seems cruel. And another thing, our debt is to high to put people in jail for a marijuana stick. Costs our nation to much to house and feed them for something so minor. Oh I never smoked the stuff and never will but I use common sense. More should.

Colorado is one of the few states swimming in cash. The other 49 are so debt ridden that they are the ones in deep trouble.

Trust me, I get it. You are totally happy with Big Brother knocking at your door and telling you what you can and cannot plant and grow.

Because it's bad for the children.

May your chains lay lightly upon you.

I support decreasing the power and influence of the government over the lives of the citizens. Free people in a free nation are not told what plants they are allowed to consume.

I’ve described on a few threads. Rural SW Oregon. Crime went up spectacularly, car crashes, car thefts, assaults, break ins, murders, felons and weirdos from all over came in and bought properties with wads of cash and are nasty people who often harass neighbors with all kinds of bad behavior (running them off roads, lights and loud noise all night, threats, etc).

95% of the grow ops are illegal still - they’re supposed to be permitted and licensed and follow some kind of regulations, but there are only 100 legal grows in the whole county, and probably 1000 grows just in my valley. They steal water from every creek, stream and river - water rights are very important here - and are draining the acquifer with overuse of wells. MJ uses tons of water. Many or most of them use tons of chemicals - often without any regard to safety or allowable use - and the run off goes into adjoining properties, creeks and so on.

Oh, and they make dabs or hash oil or whatever they call it from the leftover dope slash, and use incredibly bad chemicals as solvents, which they then pour on the ground or into streams, or sometimes for amusment, blow up. I’ve heard the explosions. DH went to a fire at one of their factories in a barn, one guy got 3rd degree burns. Thankfully a doper, not a firefighter.

Kids are dropping out of high school since they can make huge $ trimming. Oh yes, the trimmigrants - even more transients crawling in to the valley to make $ trimming - more beggars, people shitting where they shouldn’t, and shoplifting.

Want any more?

Fortunately the county had a referendum and May about banning commercial dope growing in areas zoned RR 5 - rural residential - and more than 60% were for the ban, so the county is going to ban it. So the “boom” may be short lived.

Dope growers are nasty, nasty people. They don’t give a crap about the environment, public safety, being good neighbors or anything else. They worship the almighty dollar and being stoned out of their wits.

PS I head dispatch 24/7 and I know exactly what I am talking about.

So you're good with consuming opium in all its forms too, then? That kind of policy did wonders for China in the 1840s-1900. Allowing people to damage themselves with harmful recreational drugs is not what a healthy society does.

When enough people grow and consume said plant, it impacts my quality of life in numerous ways. I live on the outskirts of a high drug area. Drugs are all over the community and addicts have a blast radius that impacts a lot more than even their immediate families. Handicapping the ability of people to access those substances improves the quality of life for everyone.

If you define freedom by the ability to get yourself stoned legally, you've completely missed the point. You're not free. You're a slave to the endorphin rush.
