Meghan Markle to be Baptized and Confirmed Into Church of England
The Tablet ^ | Nov 28, 2017 | Ruth Gledhil

Kensington Palace told The Tablet that Miss Markle is a Protestant but had not previously been baptised or confirmed. In addition, she will seek to become a British citizen, the palace said.

Prince Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, is Supreme Governor of the Church of England.

Prince Harry is currently fifth in line to the throne and will become sixth in line after the birth of his brother Prince William's third child next year.

Ms Markle went to a Catholic school but is not a Catholic. In any case, the 2013 Succession to the Crown Act 2013 removed the law that marrying a Catholic would forfeit succession to the throne.

Her mother is not Jewish. That makes her not Jewish regardless of whether her father is supposedly Jewish. She doesn’t even appear to be culturally Jewish in the way that some half-breeds are.

Interestingly, the UK royals once had a family tradition that they were descended from King David of the Bible, and it is said that males up until Diana’s offspring had traditional Jewish circumcisions by a Jewish mohel.

Thank you Prince Harry.

I was so tired from her stalking me and calling at odd hours in the night and morning....

I’ll rest easier knowing she is on your little Island Nation but sadly, I won’t be visiting ever again, as I usually stay at The Rueben’s across the street from Buckingham and I just cannot risk running into her again.

Exciting times for sure but, no more drama.....

And again, none of my business. Jesus knows. That’s about as good as it gets.

I think so. But, really, here, she is not converting, just getting Baptized and joining a denomination.

Sort of. This is Britain we're talking about and the idea of a jew or a muslim being in the line of succession (her kids, anyway) is way more palatable than the thought that a Catholic might get anywhere near the throne. For historical reasons there are strong biases there and I don't think they perceive Catholicism as just another flavor of the same religion when it comes to the person potentially sitting on the throne itself.

The point being they would, I think, be more willing to accept a muslim or jew as sovereign and head of the Church of England than a Catholic, and that goes for the spouse and kids too. I'm just a dumb American so perhaps my perception is wrong. But the evidence suggests otherwise.

And then after I posted I noted this line, which I originally misread: "Ms Markle went to a Catholic school but is not a Catholic. In any case, the 2013 Succession to the Crown Act 2013 removed the law that marrying a Catholic would forfeit succession to the throne."

So on the one hand, I mistakenly thought she was Catholic and hence the urgency to have her be baptized (turns out that's not the case). On the other hand, part of the "evidence" I cited for the "Catholics can't get near the throne" was that law noted above which was only repealed four years ago for heaven's sake. There is/was no similar law ragarding judaism, Islam, Buddhism, etc, only Catholicism.

Italy didn’t grant religious freedom until 1984. That’s what a State Church gets you. Theirs is, as I’m sure you know, Roman Catholic. UK is Church of England. So, don’t get too torn up about it, there’s plenty enough to go around.

Its an hour long show about a fake whiz kid lawyer and his fellow partners in lawfare, lots of drama, plot twists, and general nonsense.

I watched about a season and a half and it got to be repetitive tomfoolery so I was done, I think they just finished the last season, the sixth or seventh.

She was good in the series, not anything special, nothing against her, just not sure why of all people she would be brought into the Royal Family.

This guy has the crazy gene like his Mother.

“Her mother is not Jewish. That makes her not Jewish...”

I’ve NEVER understood that designation for the mama to be Jewish, since....

“Matthew 1:5

Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab,

Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth,”

I’m not torn up about anything, just throwing out opinions about things I have absolutely no control over and only indirect knowledge of. It’s what we do!

Converts to Judaism are 100% Jewish.

Ezra 10
...And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law...

The mother (or conversion, which is common) determines “Jewishness.”

The father’s lineage determines the tribe.

I am Jewish of the tribe of Levi (Jacob’s son), for example.

> Converts to Judaism are 100% Jewish.

One cannot undo an Orthodox conversion. If the person sees that 613 commandments are too hard, he has no way of going back. The 613 Jewish commandments are more restrictive and numerous than the 7 Noahide commandments. This is why I am happy to remain a Gentile.
