French school children aged 9 to 10 have been ranked the worst in Europe for their reading skills, marking a steady decline in levels since 2001, a new study has revealed. Its not good news for French schools.
The study by PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study), which has been carried out every five years since 2001, ranks the reading skills of school children aged 9 to 10 in 50 countries.
Thousands of French school pupils took part in the study in the spring of 2016, answering a series of comprehension questions on literary and informative texts.
And the results werent good news, with the country coming last in Europe and 34th overall on a list that saw Russia claim the top spot, followed by Singapore, Hong Kong, Ireland and Finland.
France received a total of 511 points in the survey, which was led by the IEA, a Dutch consulting firm specializing in comparative studies of international school systems.
This score puts French children 25 points below the average for children participating in other European Union countries (544 points).
By comparison, Russia received 581 points; and England, which was ranked tenth, received 559 points.

That doesn't mean that those were the children responsible for the low scores in France. They couldn't have gotten away with anything suggesting that there's a direct link between mass third world immigration and declining academic and economic performance. Any article about poor school performance in the US wouldn't have photos of black or hispanic children either, for exactly the same PC reasons.
I know this isn’t the point of the posting, but the ability to read is a very poor measurement of intelligence.
Hmm. AFAIK, “Yakoub” would be the Arabic form of “Jacques”.
My guess is that the problem lies, not with the Francophiles, but with the mongrels they have let into France.
And yet the French are still ahead of the U.S. in reading.
That’s because those French have a different word for everything.
No, the French are the worst in Europe. We still rank below them worldwide.
Is it “racist” to conclude that France’s immigrant population in its schools has something to do with the overall results for France?
And that, when compared to the U.K. results, fewer international immigrants arrive in Europe speaking French than those speaking English; which may be, in spite of immigration levels in the U.K., it’s test results were not as low.
Is “Dirka Dirka Dirka”, French?
Prior to Brexit (and still ongoing until it's finalized), the UK was getting more immigrants from southern and Eastern Europe than it was from Third World countries. The children of these European immigrants tended do fairly well in British schools, because their parents were usually literate in at least some language and usually valued education and job training. In contrast, most of the immigrants in France are from North Africa and other cultures where illiteracy and absence of education are the norm.
Thanks, I needed that.
The Muslim propensity for inbreeding can extend the drag on academic performance beyond just the first generation of immigrants handicap with the language - until they quit marrying first cousins. Birth defects, mental impairment and low IQ reach up to a third of the population among highly inbred societies, most of which are muslim. Mohammed married his cousin, and that medieval tribal practice has been enshrined in islamic law ever since. Half of marriages in Afghanistan today are between first cousins.
The cultures of Arab and African immigrants are also not among the world’s best for academic achievement. Confucian and Jewish communities tend to excel; Arabs, Muslims and Africans tend to lag. World class.
Cultural assimilation is key to correcting their performance deficit.
“French school children ranked worst at reading in Europe”
That makes them still light years ahead of our democrat enclaves.
“Is it racist to conclude that Frances immigrant population in its schools has something to do with the overall results for France?”
No.
"Dirka Dirka Dirka, Muhammad Jihad!"
“Is it racist to conclude that Frances immigrant population in its schools has something to do with the overall results for France?”
No.
