the metallic 'M-class' asteroid 16 Psyche

M class, according to Star Trek lore, that means it has a gravitational field and atmosphere capable of sustaining human life.

Hope there is a lot of chromium, titanium, moly and copper too! With all those metals, it would be able to make a vast array of alloys - make a great starship-yard.

16 Psyche is the remnants of the core of the once inhabited planet between Mars and Jupiter. This planet was destroyed by invading aliens after receiving peaceful radio transmissions that revealed its location to the aliens.

First of all, it says a lot about America that they have to explain how to pronounce psyche.

Second, getting all that gold would make gold worthless.

What is most bemusing are the dim-witted comments.

Is it so hard to make the step from mining the rock, to using the material mined, right there, to build stuff, right there?
Yah know, when you have a planet's worth of rocks and minerals, and a star for power, perhaps slap together an O'Neil colony or 20?

But, they are Brits and Leftists. The Stupids. Perhaps we should just leave them behind, to rot in their own squalor...

NASA muslims are working on a plan that will change the orbit of the asteroid to bring it closer to earth... dead center actually. thus making the mining of its rich metals easier

The $10,000 quadrillion asteroid: Experts reveal how iron, nickel and gold makes 16-Psyche so valuable as NASA prepares to visit it in 2026

By the time we actually get around to mining Psyche, our technology will be so advanced that it will be about as valuable to us then as the discovery of a large deposit of, say, flint would be to us today.

In 100 years, nanotubules and other nano-scale materials made of Carbon will be the most-valuable substances.

Regards,
