Don’t laugh. Those early 1940s air-to-sea missiles were devastating!

Not original, Red. The title reads “Newly colorized images have brought home the full horror of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on the 76th anniversary of the assault (pictured, the USS West Virginia, which was hit by seven torpedoes)”

The photographs are the work of Cardiff-based British electrician, Royston Leonard, 55, who painstakingly added color to the images: ‘The photos show what was an island at peace hit by the horror of war.

It’s just that his work is well above the average colorizing.

“Missile assault??”

UK paper, British terminology.

They define torpedos as:

“A cigar-shaped self-propelled underwater missile designed to be fired from a ship or submarine or dropped into the water from an aircraft and to explode on reaching a target.”

They would only have put it in if Royston Leonard had colorized it, which he apparently didn’t. But you can see it would have been a beautiful piece to colorize.

LOL! Nice try, but everybody knows the Germans didn’t have missiles until much later in the war.

This can't be shown in color either. It is too heart wrenching. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

You can’t possibly mean that they didn’t include the scene in the later color remakes?? Tell me it isn’t true.

Yep.

The Brits and Americans are two peoples, separated by a common language.

“Forget it, he’s rolling.”

Yeah, but he left out the good part about the Germans at Pearl Harbor...

My FIL was on the USS Helena, they were badly damaged but limped back to San Diego for repairs and headed to the Pacific theatre.

Against moored ships, yes. But of the 281 bombs dropped by B-17s during the battle of Midway, not one of these so much as scratched a Japanese vessel.
