The body of a woman who was found dead in the water along a trail in Sunnyvale on Thursday has been identified as a 23-year-old software engineer.
Police said a bicyclist spotted the body of 23-year-old Chuchu Ma in the water along Bay Trail Thursday morning. The Google software engineer was reported missing in Mountain View that same day.
Body found in water along Sunnyvale trail identified According to Mas LinkedIn page, she graduated with a Bachelors in Computer Science from the University of Texas, Austin, where she received a National Merit Scholarship.
She worked as an engineer at Google for over a year where she was also excelling.
A representative from Google tells KRON4:
Chuchu was an excellent software engineer in our developer product team. We are devastated to learn of her passing, and our deepest condolences are with her family and friends.
Police are tight-lipped about the details surrounding Mas death. At this time, it isnt clear if she was the victim of a crime.
The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said the investigation is ongoing and they are awaiting the coroners autopsy results.
This is quite sad. She was 23 with a heck of a lot of life to live.
Covert Google op? Inside of covert Google ops?
Google just trying to equalize the diversity ratio of their business.
I have bicycled along that trail many times. Not in a bad neighborhood, seperate from traffic, close to water but not dangerously. There aren’t a lot of ways to hurt yourself on that trail.
Awaiting autopsy results pending Google’s approval to do so.
Wonder if Google would have her killed if she found out they actually “Do Some Evil”?
Guys I can’t get behind the snark.
A 23 YO lady is dead. There is nothing to suggest this is anything less than a tragedy.
Totally agree. Christian fellowship and concern is disappearing.
I suspect foul play.
Silicon Valley has a large homeless population, and the cluster along rivers, channels and greenways. I would not be surprised, if their is a killer, if it’s a homeless illegal immigrant.
Too many young women have idiotic ideas about their personal ability and safety.
It’s not safe for a single woman to go running alone along some remote path — anywhere. The world is full of bad men, some of whom need only the smallest window of opportunity to grab a woman and rape, molest or kill them.
If the woman is armed and trained, then this can be ameliorated, and the woman can travel alone more widely, but still risking attack at a much higher level than a man would.
You Kickboxing class junior year at Berkeley did not make you able to resist being taken by an average sized or larger determined man. Now if you are a woman cage fighter, you probably can surprise these cretins, but very very few woman are that serious about combat sports and self defense. You are not Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. You are not Rhonda Roussey.
So, while it’s not her fault, it’s a tragedy compounded by the unrealistic view of the world (”equality”) that woman are force fed from infancy in our damaged society.
I agree 100%.
I’ve never seen a homeless person nearby. During the day, there are usually professionals around.
You two dont think homicide is on this? You think Google would let them find out and publicize results?
You think the people here thinking that a brilliant young engineer possibly getting sacked is unChristian?
How?
Whether or not she was a kickboxer she certainly was smart enough to walk or run without ending up in the creek to drown
Maybe not smart enough to not go out there alone
Prayers for this poor girl and her loved ones.
See 3, 4 and 8. Lots of meanness all around. Especially towards Californians, the state with more FReepers than any other.
Thank you, for putting a face to the name.
There was a time in the Bay Area when a murder outside Oakland or Richmond was a very big deal.
