Wait! A lot of teachers claim that they are sacrificing to ensure that the teach the youngsters. Now that she doesn’t have teaching anymore, she no longer has to sacrifice and pursue the dreams that would have made her a bundle.
Not a very practical decision in my humble opinion. But doesn’t surprise me anymore what people will do, particularly when it comes to money and finances.
I hope the 16 YO groom can support his new family in the custom they are used to. If not, I assume the father of the groom can step in and offer some financial support. Maybe the groom can drop out and take a grill management position with the local Mickey D’s or start his own shoeshine business or something.
As for the 30’s something bride with kids of her own to raise, she probably gets another child to raise and feed. If she is lucky, she might return to teaching at some sympathetic school district or start a day care of her own.
Uh huh, sounds like they have a plan. Not a very practical one, but a plan never the less. Wanna bet the taxpayers will have to be at the ready in case things don’t work out.
Practical people know actions have consequences. Somehow, I don’t think in this case the consequences have been thoroughly evaluated. But what the hell, I’m sure any potential obstacles, like poverty, can be overcome by their true love and romance for each other.
I will give them credit for being of the opposite gender and wanting to get legally married, but as life experience has taught practical people, love doesn’t pay the bills. OTOH, money can’t buy true love either. So we have to choose wisely what is practical and best for us.
If there is such a thing as the Darwin Award for Marriages, this marriage has my nomination. If anyone cares, let them check back in a few years and see how things are going. In the meantime, I have other things to worry about before the SHTF.
The dude needs a rescue.
The fact that he is her student makes the relationship inappropriate in any case. The board has every right to fire her.
