A seagull looks like it's about to fly straight into the face of a polar bear - who closed its eyes in anticipation of the crash.
Takayoshi Noda snapped the amazing scene where bird and bear come face to face, in Kaktovik village, on Barter Island, Alaska.
The seagull was just a couple of metres away when the polar bear closed its eyes in anticipation.

a long lens compresses distance so wouldn’t bet my life that the beak of the gull was dead center to the bears nose..still a good still

I’m a firm believer in avoiding reality whenever possible. That was really YUCK!

Exactly.
I saw a show once where a wildlife cameraman was in a steel cage out on the ice. A hungry polar bear showed up, and the guy took video while the bear just BASHED and BIT the cage, ENRAGED that it couldnt get at the tasty morsel inside. Bit the cage until his gums around his big, sharp teeth were bleeding.
Theres a reason Alaska guides typically carry bush rifles with hard cast bullets in a caliber starting with a four. These people are not Bambi-ists, they have no illusions about how to best maintain their position at the top of the food chain.

No. Most guides carry a .22 LR.
Shoot the nearest tourist in the knee then run like hell!
