The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is offering a teaching session later this month that's tied to a timely topic of late: nuclear war.
The Jan. 16 event, which the CDC has titled "Public Health Response to a Nuclear Detonation," comes at a time when continued tensions between the U.S. and North Korea over the Hermit Kingdom's nuclear pursuits are running particularly hot.
------------------- Federal, state and local agencies would lead immediate responses to nuclear activity, the CDC says. Yet Stat News reports the session is meant to target public health professionals like doctors, nurses, pharmacists and even veterinarians, among other people. "Despite the fear surrounding [a nuclear] event, planning and preparation can lessen deaths and illness," the CDC says on its webpage announcing the session. "For instance, most people don't realize that sheltering in place for at least 24 hours is crucial to saving lives and reducing exposure to radiation."

First I am going to assume the squatting position.MOThird I will kiss you know what goodbye.
CDC leadership are swamp creatures.
Duck! and Cover!
This is TDS on display. See Trump is going to get us into a nuclear event - told you so! What BS!
Where can I get my iodine pills?
So, now....while the threat of a nuclear war -somewhere or other- has always been real...This now seems to be the Expansion of Weaponization of our Governmental Agencies....CDC piling on the ‘Talking Points’ to the ‘Fear Factor’ of PDJT’s mental fitness to do the job of protecting the Country.
Now, Joe Scarborough can quote the CDC....to drive home the point that PDJT is not fit to protect our nation....layer upon layer of ‘EVIDENCE’ for that oh-so-sweet-impeachment-moment....when the Dems finally regain control of EVERYTHING!
Well, if it was close to you, it would suck.
Otherwise, I think the hysteria I hear among the younger folk is overdone.
Maybe the CDC should figure out how to control liberalism, the most dangerous and destructive of all diseases.
People went out to drink from the puddles of bomb-generated rain that washed down a lot of the newly created, short-lived, but extremely deadly particles, ingesting them so that they could do their damage coursing through the body, up close and personal.
Spinning up anti-Trumpers of all stripes. Get that thought in their heads and scare’ em to death.
The Army has been training health professionals to deal with nuclear incidents, as well as chemical and biological, for decades. I know the basics of how to set up a triage and decontamination center in case of such an event.
I would hope that every hospital has a couple of people on staff who have taken the training.
I’m not certain of the CDC’s motives with this particular event, but giving advice for disaster preparedness is nothing new for them. The CDC created the zombie apocalypse survival guide (yes, this is a real thing) several years ago for the purpose of teaching people in a lighthearted fashion how to prepare for and survive a disaster.
Who does “among other people” refer to? Apparently, those medical health professionals don’t care about having anything to eat the year after an attack or any help with infrastructure cleanup. People who aren’t educated well in advance will not be cooperative with bossy, officious insiders.
Hell we’ve been prepping for this since the 50’s.
If Trump was to be impeached Kim would see us as weak and THEN the nukes would fly.
I’ve found young, working class people to be very interested in information on survivability after nuclear exchange. Most of my Baby Boomer peers and their Gen-X neighbors, on the other hand, have already decided that such an event will be the end of the world.
My concern after an attack, assuming I am still alive, is how do I get my life sustaining Rxs. Will I have to break in the drug store? Emp will disable everything in the supply chain. Some insurers will only allow 30 day supply. That will kill many people.
While the CDC sits on their asses Aussie is raging around the world killing tends of thousands.
