While national anthem protests have slowed around the NFL, it has still dominated national conversation throughout this season.
So what if such protests namely kneeling were to surface at the Super Bowl?
Fred Gaudelli, the executive producer of the Super Bowl, told reporters Tuesday night that the network would indeed capture any kneeling at the game.
"It was a pretty big story in our country this fall, Gaudelli said Tuesday. The Super Bowl is a live event, just like Sunday Night Football. When youre covering a live event, youre covering whats happening.
So if there are players that choose to kneel, they will be shown live. I would say, probably since Thanksgiving, a lot of that has kind of disappated and died down. Its certainly possible it could happen again.
Of course, not all protests during the anthem have been broadcast, but the attention its gotten seems to warrant that it be televised at the biggest football event of the year.
The anthem protest conversation reached new heights following Donald Trump's comments and tweets demanding that teams remove any players who choose to kneel.
The league united following Trump's comments that owners must "get that son of a b---- off the field" if a player protests, and the President added fuel to the fire via Twitter in the proceeding weeks.
NFL violence should be more off-putting than anthem kneeling Buffalo Bills players take a knee during the playing of the national anthem prior to an NFL football game against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 24, 2017. The symbolic kneel comes two days after Trump's harsh comments on players who don't stand during "The Star-Spangled Banner." NFL player Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem last year as a way to peacefully protest police brutality against African Americans in America.
"Two dozen NFL players continue to kneel during the National Anthem, showing total disrespect to our Flag & Country. No leadership in NFL! Trump tweeted in October.
The country can probably count on Trump to fire up his Twitter account once again if there's any protests on Super Bowl Sunday.
Show away, NBC, but will anyone be watching?
To Hell with the NFL.
Sounds like Fred got his marching orders from Valerie.
ask the hypocrite Freepers who say they boycott the NFL but you find the same liars on Bender’s and Inpy’s NFL thread.
It's a football game. The Antifa Anarchist vs The BLM Rioters.
If “my Vikings” make it to the Super Bowl, there is no kneeling from the purple. There was not ONE VIKING who disrespected our flag at any time.
In fact you have Case Keenum running with the Flag in hand onto the field.
Just another reason to root for the VIKINGS!
SKOL ALL THE WAY!!!!
Good news. Let these felonious thugs show their hatred of America for all to see. It’s just guaranteeing Trump’s re-election.
Won’t watch...But someone needs to be adding names to the “to do list”...
Won’t watch...But someone needs to be adding names to the “to do list”...
I won’t be watching.
I quit last season after 50 years when the league refused to stand for America.
It is news.... show it so we all know what happened..
The key to the NFL is what season ticket holders do next year..
The more people move south and west..less need to stay inside and watch football...
It’s simple. They kneel, I change the channel.
I have not yet begin completely boycotting NFL games, but I will not watch a game which starts off with players kneeling during the anthem.
Ditto. I know I won’t be watching.
They might be showing,
but America wont be watching.
...begun...
Show what you want. Even if you show both teams in only their jock straps Im not tuning in. Companies, save your ad $. Go on shark tank or something people actually will watch.
Vikings preferred to violate anthem protocol by locking arms instead of kneeling.
First Super bowl in 51 years I will not watch.
5.56mm
There will be no Super Bowl for me. Im not into watching phony virtue-signaling SJWs.
