Since we can’t cite from the article, I’ll just say the parents are trying to make it into a case of blacks getting less medical treatment than whites, implying a search for deep pockets.

Well, one of the realities of socialized medicine is that poor black people may get minimal medical treatment. I see no reason why that information should be hidden from the public. And this is definitely an instance of medical malpractice.

Yeah, this is the new racism deal. Serena Williams, (the 100 million dollar tennis champ) is claiming racism while she was in the hospital giving birth to her child. Evidently she has a history of pulmonary embolism (an unspoken side effect of PEDs). So she felt something was going on and the nurses refused to listen. She was begging for a CT scan and they only did a Doppler, and as it turned out she supposedly did have an embolism. Her take was that black people get less care than white people and have less credibility to the medical profession.

(My white husband was within minutes of dying and went code blue because the nurse wouldn’t listen to me, and I am a white woman.). Fortunately, right before he coded, after arguing with her, I screamed to get a fu&$#@& doctor in here NOW which saved his life.

Jathi died because they didn't care for her properly in the recovery room.

She had sleep apnea, so was at high risk of having an obstructed airway after a tonsillectomy (where bleeding or edema in the area of the removed tonsils could have closed her airway. I know of at least one kid who died after a tonsillectomy: we rarely do this surgery any more unless the tonsils are very large and infected, so it's not like the low risk tonsillectomies of the past when lots of kids had them done.

I suspect that the reason for the rush to remove her life support was because if she lived, the malpractice suit would have been higher.

As for prejudice in health care: Alas, it is true. It is also true for poor whites in rural areas, an against Native Americans. part of it is cultural (poor people don't take their meds, they admit to drinking and smoking, and sometimes don't understand what you are trying to tell them, which makes communication difficult). But it is also prejudice.. and a lot of foreign doctors come from countries that look down on blacks.
