So how can they tell a small moon from a Death Star searching for planets full of beings to enslave?

If we can determine they are there, they can determine WE are here. Hmmmm.

I'm skeptical here. I think that to be seeing wobbles from an object several billion light years away could be from vibrations in subspace and not from any actual planets. /Sarc off
However such science should not brespond wasted and I propose to use it to find Obama birth certificate and other records he has hidden.

Key sentence seemingly overlooked:
"It turned out to be around 2,000 unbound planets with masses ranging between the Moon and Jupiter, between the galaxy's stars."In other words these 2,000 planet sized bodies are NOT orbiting stars. The are traveling freely in their galaxy. Are there similar planets and in the same quantity in out galaxy? Planet X anyone?

Am I correct in guessing that the planets in question have to be orbiting in the plane of the ecliptic of their suns/stars in relation to Earth? That’s the only way they would cross in front of the star as we view it. Which means that there are probably lots of them we can’t spot because the angle is wrong.
