Anyone tried any flavor of Linux? I personally prefer the RedHat family (CentOS, Fedora), although I am also comfortable with the Ubuntu family, but I generally recommend (for folks new to Linux), "Linux Mint", a flavor of Ubuntu which is very friendly to non-geeks.

Tried Ubuntu and Mint a few times - am too lazy these days for some of the necessary command line stuff and the learning curve. So many apps that we get hooked on are compatible with Windows and while Linux has replacements for many, they also require learning curve.
I would imagine the best of both worlds would be a stable Linux environment with Windows running on Virtual machine for the needed Windows apps.

Anyone tried any flavor of Linux?Currently using Mint 17.3 and 18. Have used Fedora, slackware, and others over the past decade or so. I recommend Mint for beginners.
