I think our country can afford to be a little more invested yes. Its a good morale booster and unifier to rally behind our athletes.

How do "athletes" who badmouth the President and VP help to unite the country? Those days are over.

The U.S. competitors turned me off - their statements, behaviors, and attitude are insulting.

The event coverage is awful. Literally spent 25 mins and saw one skater perform, switched to MMA for action.

Like the NFL, the Olympic athletes, staff, and media have lost focus on the sports. They put energy into making it about politics, social justice, racial rather athletic performances.

How quickly they traded their "moment" to shine for demeaning comments about others. Long after these would be stars are forgotton, we will remember we Mr. Trump!

I am not as fatalistic about national unity. Maybe the hyper PC coverage of NBC is to blame for over-emphasizing gay tokenism and political statements.

There are a lot of lovely athletes who make no political commentary that could barely afford new skates and plane tickets for themselves or their families. Don’t know what the solution is...but it’d just be nice to have talented people encouraged to reach their potential without being so strapped for resources.
