A little girl saw an emotional-support dog on a plane. It went for her face.

A dog injured a child onboard a Southwest Airlines flight, the latest incident in the controversy over allowing emotional-support animals on planes.

It happened Wednesday night while passengers were boarding a Southwest flight from Phoenix to Portland, Ore. A spokesman for the airline said the dog’s teeth scraped the girl’s forehead as she approached the animal, causing a minor injury.

Southwest said paramedics examined the girl, who was later cleared to continue on the flight. The dog and its owner remained in Phoenix while the plane left about 20 minutes behind schedule. Neither the girl nor the dog’s handler was named.

Southwest allows trained emotional-support animals to travel on domestic and international flights as long as their handlers provide health certificates, permits and vaccinations required by the “country, state or territory from and/or to which the animal is being transported.”

[United changed its policy for emotional-support animals. That peacock still can’t board.]

The incident comes as two major airlines have changed their policies in response to an uptick in the number of reports involving animals on commercial flights.

Delta Air Lines said in January that it is requiring advance documentation, such as proof of health or vaccinations and signed paperwork confirming that the animals can behave. The new requirements are in response to an 84 percent increase in incidents since 2016, from urinating or defecating, to barking or growling, to mauling a passenger whose face needed 28 stitches. Delta said it carries nearly 250,000 service or support animals each year.

These emotional support animals are BS.

Saw some lady in the grocery store last week with some raggedy old poodle dressed in an obviously fake internet dog jacket...

Thing took a crap in the produce aisle.

Walked by her, called her a dirty pig and made the staff at the store aware of the difference between Zelda’s “emotional support” dog that has no training and an actual service animal.

Wouldn’t have been so bad if she had attempted to clean up the pile. She just walked past it....and pretended to not understand when I pointed to the pile of feces below the tomatos.

Saw one of these ‘Emotional Support’ animals in Wal-Mart yesterday. A mangy, nasty looking animal that could have used a bath. The dog was even worse.

Since when does the self proclaimed emotional support of an individual trump the health and safety of the masses?

My niece, when she was about 5 years old, went up to greet a dog sitting on the steps near the sidewalk.

I took 60 some stitches to put her face back together.

She still doesn’t like dogs 37 years later.

“..Thing took a crap in the produce aisle....”

Well, the dog could probably read... saw the sign that said “Produce”, and thought it was a command...

So he produced...

I saw a guy take his dog into the bathroom of a restaurant. I quit going to the place.

This emotional support animal crap needs to come to an end.

People are now bringing animals everywhere and letting them off their leashes. Infuriating.

Emotional support animal owners are going to give handicapped space parkers a run for their money.

These animals are NOT the same as the dogs trained to cross a blind person. A doctor signs a letter and a person buys a dog; it’s not trained in anyway. It’s just a dog who may or may not bite.

Yesterday we were at our Doctor’s office. A woman came in WITH HER DOG. TO A DOCTOR’S OFFICE. The dog took a crap on the floor and the woman sat down and did nothing. The Nurses had to clean it up. What is WRONG WITH PEOPLE.

The emotional support structure I need and require when flying is an emotional support animal-free aircraft. An I’m offended by any refusal to recognize my victim status when forced to forego my needed support regimen. I demand recognition, acceptance, and accommodation of my needs and rights!

They are SO concerned about all sorts of other things that could cause issues if something goes wrong.
Tray tables up
No bags at your feet
Capable people in exit aisle
...

I’d think someone sitting next to me who NEEDS an emotional support animal to fly will cause more trouble than a small bag at my feet if we need an emergency evacuation. The person is likely to freak out (if it’s a real emotional need) and the animal is likely to interfere with other people trying to get out quick, especially if the owner isn’t in enough control of him/herself to also control the animal.

What emotion was the dog supporting? Rage?

I saw a giant Great Dane “emotional support” dog at my local WalMart the other day. He was bigger than a pony. I would hate to clean up after that beast.

Just wow.

To qualify as an emotional support dog, a dog must be poop on paper trained. That is what a coworker of my husband told him as she paraded her ten week old puppy emotional support dog through his workplace. She wouldn’t allow anyone to touch the dog. Lol. She wanted to know if husband objected to or had allergies to dogs. He did not object, but someone else must have because the dog is not there.

Maybe these school shooter types need emotional support dogs at school. That would set off some race issues. It might make some behave better if a German Shepherd were at the front of class.

Simple solution. Charge the human a seat for each animal, and require that they be strapped in the entire flight.
