Gun Violence Stats
Me | 2/25/2018 | sit-rep

Hey its been a while Freepers... How have you been??

I have been out of it for some time here due to the fact that I honestly gave up! Sorry to say it but it is what it is! Recently however I find myself being sucked back into it because of the recent gun issues once again. so I'm posting this hoping I can tap years of membership to gather some ammo to counter the barrage that is upon us once again.

I recently attempted to do a few hours of research to counter some "More guns does not mean less crime" cheerleaders and when attempting to merely provide some links I found myself totally lost in a jungle of bull*** articles and statistics that my kids wouldn't even believe, but they're out there in abundance!! I can easily see why there are so many believers in gun control!

Note: for any of you seeing me for the first time, dont get bunched up here... just sit back and relax...

Furthering... Its so crazy out there, that I have seen countless info actually just swapping colors on chart wheels to display their agenda!!

So, is there any decent links to any easily comprehensible credible source floating around here in the day and age??

Your first mistake is that the anti-gun argument has any root in reason or logic.

It’s not about safety. Government doesn’t care about anyone’s safety. The media doesn’t either.

Gun control is about people being subjugated.

If gun control were about keeping people safe being shot, they wouldn’t talk about the AR15. The AR15 is a symbol of resistance and liberty in the US. That’s why they want it eradicated.

Statistics aren't of much use to people who are arguing emotionally rather than rationally. But, here's a cartoon that might even reach emotional people:

Dems don’t care about safety or murder as they support releasing violent criminals over and over again to create more victims. Republicans have never gone after them about this outside of Lee Atwater with Willie Horton. But Dems are responsible for murderous criminals getting out.

Here is some information to consider and research:

In 1990, the gun free school zone legislation was passed. How did that work out?
It’s been almost 30 years ... so did the number of school shootings go down enough to warrant denying the rights of US citizens?

I leave you to do your own research and draw your own conclusions.

Some of the data need to be updated, but still pretty good:

CPRC was founded by John Lott. Many of his most recent articles are here:

Lott. He’s done the research and his findings are credible and well-supported.

But, Progressivism is a Humanist religion and gun control is essential to their stated goal of progressing man to perfection through regulation and social engineering.

See ActiveShooterData.org
Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University.

They follow federal defination of shooter event.
Data is grouped as All, School, and Business
Covers 2000 - 2015 San Bernardino, Ca shooting.
They attempt to verify primary sources. They don't report specific type of firearm beyond rifle or handgun.

Their FAQ page discusses methodology and limitations.

See my 2/20 comment (23) re: Florida school shooting...

If your more interested in trends, look at Economic Insecurity and the rise of gun violence at US schools, Pah, et.al., 2017.) They created their own composite database, but have not yet asked for access.

Please feel free to contact me.

The flowchart for what is an active shooter is interesting. Some of the criteria that removes a shooting from their consideration is a big problem. But if they didn’t, then they’d have to look at some very inconvenient truths.

Over the last 25 years, the U.S. gun homicide rate has fallen by over half while the gun violence victimization rate has fallen by about 70%. So, why does it seem like gun violence is a growing problem? (Cato Inst)
