What ideas would he have run on?

Is not life better under Trump? I was a lifelong Republican for 53 years. I quit and became an Independent. I couldn’t take anymore of the BS when we were in the minority and complained that, “if we were only in the Majority”, only to piss it all away when we got our chance. If President Trump switched toa Democrat tomorrow and kept up what he is doing.... YOU BET I’d vote for him as a D.

I like your style: It exposes many here.

Valid question regardless. Too bad the stupid virus is in the air tonight.

He may have run Republican, he may have said some good things and doing some as well, but your question is thought-provoking, considering that I’m not vested emotionally in any man or woman who runs for office.

I’ll dwell on that one...

But Trump is most definitely NOT a Democrat.

3rd vanity, in as many days, by Freepers suggesting we exercise in fantasies?

Why?

If he had run as a d'rat and once won, installed in OO following the policies he supports today, there would be no stopping the d'rat party as they would have accepted him just because he was one of them.

Republicans, once they realized the man had courage and smarts (realizing just who and what had occurred) would be sittin' on top of the world. It is hoped that we are a bit more intelligent and tolerant of the views of others if these views are valuable to our nation and morals. Party should have no meaning. It should be the man and his vision.

Fortunately, Mr. Trump didn't run as a d'rat, possibly because he knew to win he would have to defeat the witchy woman herself. At one time, in the beginning, the thought did cross a mind that Bill had something to do with the decision, should she lose, DJT would be second best. But having slept on it - that was hastily discarded.

America: We bit the bullet and have not yet fallen.
MAGA

Well . . . assuming he did the same things during the subsequent year or so . . . pleasantly surprised.

Btw : I was pulling for Trump for the entire election, including the early primaries.

IMO, he was the best of the bunch by far.

I continue to think that, perhaps he is the only candidate/American that could win and would also be willing to take on the swamp.

You are correct. In my opinion Trump is unique because he is not a puppet of the handful ultra-rich donors who control 99% of all career politicians. Trump is the richest man in my lifetime to run for presidency, which simply means he does not need those rich donors.

I attended one of his rallies during the campaign, and no other politician can win audiences like Trump does. His speech is never the most polished, but is never boring.

If he could’ve beat Hillary and Sanders, good for him.

If he could’ve beat Jeb Bush, good for him.

If he’d allied with Chuck Schumer and Democrat populist positions, then there might’ve been a problem but that’s not where we are today.

As a fantasy, it would be great if candidates with centrist or even conservative leanings ran as Democrats. We have our RINOs, there needs to be DINOs. The country overall has drifted gradually to the left as today’s Dems became Marxists and the RNC became Democrat light.

Unfortunately, that scenario is a fantasy, and I don’t see Trump as anything but a reprieve by God from the gradual slide into the abyss. Unless we win hearts and minds more than we are though, America is doomed.

And may prove even better

It would all depend on whether regulations were lifted, taxes were lowered, good judges appointed, the military unleashed ...

The last time any of that sort of thing was possible under a Democrat was Camelot.

He’d have been treated by the Dem establishment slightly worse than he’s been treated by the Republican establishment but on the very minute chance that he’d have won the nomination, on the same platform, I would have voted for him, certainly over Jeb Bush, a known political hack and liar.

He would have been buried in their Primaries - only he would have made more noise than "The Bern" did.

If he had ended up with the nomination, it's anyone's guess about how it would have played out and who would have been the Repub standing.
