Some kids get bored and like to kick the seats in front of them. I’ve had that experience. I used a calm voice and asked that child to “Please stop kicking the seat because I’m old and needed to take a nap.” The kid stopped kicking.
The mom had earphones in listening to a movie. Otherwise, it’s always best to speak to the adult, not the child.
Concussion from an empty cardboard popcorn tub? I don’t think those folks know what a concussion is.
Should have used it on the mother who wouldn’t take her screaming brat out of the theater, however.

I spent most of a 10 hour flight walking up and down the aisles of a plane to keep a 2 year old quiet. But then again, I’m considerate of others, not a self centered jerk.
This is why I’m more than happy to get my movies from Netflix on DVD. Watch when I want with who I want in the privacy of my home. Haven’t been to a theater in years and don’t miss it one bit.
I was perusing 4chan /food & cooking this AM, and one guy posted that he was in a grocery store when a mother let her precious darling loose. The kid bit the guy on the calf, drawing blood. He responded vocally. The mother THEN decided to pay attention.
An acquaintance, also in the store, came to his "aid" asking him, "Do you think he'll catch it?".
The guy explained to the mother that he's HIV-positive (untrue), and that she should have her kid tested.
He checked out and left, still bleeding.
