We Never Could Have Imagined (Or Prepped For) What Actually Happened In Venezuela
SHTF Plan ^ | 3-11-2018 | JG Martinez D.

Can we prepare for everything?

We never could have imagined…or prepped for…what happened in Venezuela.

In this article, I wanted to analyze my preps, and the nature of the apocalypse we have been forced to face. I don’t know about you, but anything that kicks you out of your place, of your warm bed, your pets, kids, wife, and the rest of your family, for me does not have another better word to describe it.

My comfort bubble was destroyed, my work of an entire life was thrown out by the window, my family insurance full coverage policy is gone with the wind (although with no medications to be had and doctors running away to Argentina and Colombia, it’s not like it was very useful though), and the few preps I had for 4 or 5 months are history now. Of course, they worked pretty well, and we stretched it a little bit, but once the system collapsed, there is nothing else we can do but close the place and bug out to some other place where we can at least buy food.

What happened was something entirely different from what we had prepared for.

I guess that what I mean is, that, within our means, we prepared more or less adequately, but what really happened was something entirely different that we had not prepared for.

We prepared for some of the consequences of turmoil, unrest, riots, crime. We were able to hunker down for a while and able to defend ourselves silently and seriously, without having to leave our haven. The scarcity problems started back there around 2013-2014. Those years were the last time I remember we could buy large amounts of wheat flour, corn flour for arepas (yes, those yellow packages

Where do you think you will run to? Be able to run to? Even get to? You will not be followed? Where you are going is totally isolated? If nearby isolationist may be tempted to attach a fellow isolationist for whatever purpose, how will you fare there? The runners have difficult problems as well.

Diamonds were probably the easiest and simplest way for fleeing Jews who left early and most knew someone in that business

Having been in it myself they are without question the predominate source and distribution assets in the diamond business

The overall point is that a political disaster is harder to survive than any natural disaster short of a planet-destroying volcano or asteroid.

Or maybe a disaster is a disaster. Depending on how you look at it, Venezuela could be going thru a “high fever” to reach the cure or maybe resistance is lowered for another “disease” to take over.

Hard times are the cure for our ailments also as proven through out history.........................

This has been a goood thread. I have often thought of what I would have done if I had lived in Germany in the 30’s.

The summary of the discussion here is that the choices were:

1) leave
2) fight
3) survive for another day

All options has some pros and cons......................

As stated before, we have to place our bets.

>>Where do you think you will run to?

That is what I’m saying. The only thing sillier than thinking we can run to a safe place is the notion of hunkering down until the Socialism goes away.

A willingness to give up comfort and security, the couch and the happy retirement, to fight and kill and die is the only viable “prep” for Socialism. And the idea that we can wait for the Socialism to take over before we act is naive.

The Globalists know our weaknesses and they will not create the catalyst to force action until it is too late.

The world is a prison and we are all sentenced to death.

Escape to where?
Enviously looking in on the U.S.A. from England right now, I have to say there is nowhere else. The U.S.A. represents the last place of freedom on this planet. If there’s to be a last stand, it will be with you. It’s all on you guys, I wish I could help.

There’s too many of us to leave - best plan is to stop ‘home grown’ communists from taking over the country.
_________________________________________________________
The slick deception of socialism never gets old. This country gained a reprieve from a socialist takeover with President Trump election, but in the long term there is no reason to assume the younger generation will be smart enough to avoid socialism’s lure. A soft coup, which was Obozo’s tactic, can move a country to communism without firing a shot or even seizing your guns. At what point under creeping socialism is enough enough and patriots reach for their guns? I believe success in such an endeavor could not happen without like minded members of the military joining in. Whether patriots or the military lead, both must be part of the equation. Unfortunately, we read today that only 30% of our youth are capable of serving. I truly worry that the race to enlist the few good men and women by all services may give second shrift to screening out those who lack strong allegiance to country. If they only rely on a national agency check (NAC), it will not do the job. If military ranks ever get corrupted to the core with left leaning ideologues, our great country is screwed.

If the S was about Hit The Fan real bad and I had $6,000 in cash, at age 70, I wouldn't spend it on a year's worth of food for four people. Hale no.

I'd go sit on a beach somewhere and drink margaritas and wait for the end to come.

No need to make the end of the world any worse than it's already going to be.

America has a few advantages working in it’s favor. There are a LOT of people well-armed. There is a LOT of places to hide in the Appalachians, Ozarks, Rockies, and the rural deserts and plains of the interior where there are multitudes of caves, rocky terrain, and very defensible positions. There are a lot of conservative farmers and country people who know how to grow/store food and hunt and there are a LOT of animals to hunt in America. There are a LOT of Americans who know about homemade explosive technology and know how to manufacture firearms and explosives.

I would join these crowds of people and fight if push came to shove.

You can’t be serious. China has NO history of freedom. Those people have been told what to do for 5,000 years. They are moving AWAY from what little freedom they granted. They are clamping down even harder on their people. And at a time when their economy is slowly but surely running out of legs. The demographic disaster awaiting China (fastest aging in world history) in the future ensures she will suffer a collapse of untold proportions and remain poor. Within 10 years it will begin to depopulate and within 30 years, 40% of it’s population will be over age 65 and will slowly sap away it’s vitality. Not to mention it’s wildly out of balance gender disproportion-too many males and not enough females.

Most of Asia is totalitarian and/or awesomely corrupt.

Very likely in the Ext 25-50 years China will lapse into warlordism again, it always does!

Yes I am serious. Take you “history” glasses off and observe the trend. I said trend. They are gaining more freedom, we are getting less. It is relative.

The freedoms they have given their people are going to be hard to put back in the bottle.

Prepper Ping - Venezuela in need

Food Storage and Long Term Storage - but can it last you and your family for 3 1/2 years ?
Freeze dried foods maintain their nutrition and vitamins, but are bulky and cumbersome so they don't "travel well" in a backpack.
Dehydrated Foods loose some of their nutrition during drying but shrink, however they do "travel well", take up less space, and require hydration prior to being consumed.
Foraging for native plants requires knowledge of which plants are edible, avoiding poisonous plants, and knowledge of where the plants are located.

"Store what you eat, and eat what you store " is a Prepper wise saying and refrain; with reason behind it..
If you wont try it in times of plenty, what makes you think that it will be more palatable in times of stress ?.... despiration ?
Another Prepper saying is :" Try before you buy ! "
All prepper foods/ camping supplies ARE NOT CREATED EQUALLY !!,.. nor do they all have the same storage longevity, and 'shelf life'.
Study the nutritional value of foods that you store, and realize that many foods say they have "two servings",
whereas it might only be what one person would normally eat.
Also, be aware of calorie count, fats, and fatty oils in the foods you store, as they will aid in digestion and energy.

Hat Tip to Freepers TADSLOS and greeneyes And prayers up for the Venezuelan people

You are right. Never in history has a country intentionally armed it’s people to restrict it’s governmental power.

The story is still being written here, so not all hope is lost.

The purpose of the 2nd amendment is not hunting or self defense.
