Even though I think electric cars are idiotic, electric motorcycles could work. Power pack trade ins at gas stations. 50 lb or so. Guy pulls up, pops his “tank” and pulls the batteries. Walks in and lays it on the counter. Clerk points to where to put it. No core charge. Guy pays for the energy and a little wear only. He puts in his ear buds and is vrooming down the road.
Winter kills electric cars. We are animals that need to keep warm. Battery tech has not come to the level of keeping us warm. That simple. Your 240 mile car will go 80 miles with the heater on.

I only use my heater for a few hours each year.

If your commute is about ten miles and you can have your car nice and toasty before you get in no problem!
