I say we run Shroedinger’s cat through the two slits and have Shroedinger’s dog waiting on the other side.

Behavior problem solved. ALthough we may have to repeat the experiment 9 times before the cat quits providing interference.

He was more interested in money and the things it could bring: fine food and drink, material luxury, and women. He wanted a Mad Men lifestyle, not a professor’s office...... He died of a massive heart attack in 1982, at the age of 51.

At least he died happy..................

He was a fascinating character, darker than this article reveals. His son is Mark Everett, who is basically the rock band The Eels. He wrote a lot about his father and the legacy of self-destruction and suicide he passed down to his children. A brilliant guy though.

Have you told that joke before or did that spring from your head full grown on the fly.

Whatever. Thanks for the laugh.

It would be tough to carry around a multidimensional world in your head.

When I first heard this multidimensional stuff a decade or two ago—I went back to the turtles interpretation of the universe as the more satisfying explanation of the universe if the big bang theory didn’t work out.

For now, it looks like the simple explanation that something came from nothing of classical physics looks too much like genesis 1:1 for respectable atheists to support.

That actually sprang from my head last night.
My son is studying physics at UA Huntsville and is due home on Wednesday for spring break.
I’ve been watching youtube videos on physics so that I can talk to him.

In accordance with his wishes, his family had him cremated, and left his ashes out to be collected with the trash.

Now that’s pragmatism.

“he said that quantum physics actually implied an infinite number of near-identical parallel universes”

The multiverse is not from an “understanding of Quantum physics, but do totally to the fact that some behaviors of matter/energy at the quantum level have no explanation and zero empirical evidence for how - by what laws - they occur, but occur we know they do.

So the idiots among the tribe of theoretical physics invents things out of whole cloth to “explain” things that neither they nor anyone yet understands. ALL their fanciful notions about matter/energy at the level we reside at having the ability to demonstrate behavior only see at the quantum level have and ZERO empirical proof. Neither things like the multiverse nor string theory nor many others are more science than they are science fantasy.

DC & Marvel multi-verses thank him.

Every super-critter is simultaneously, alive, dead, and/or trans-somethinged.

There are no real consequences for violating Newton’s prosaic notions.

It is a great relief.

Thank you.

Theorems are symbolic models. A model is not Reality.

To a theoretical mindset, an equation is more substantial than flesh and blood.

(As a math nerd in my early youth, and a science major in my later youth, I understand the seductive temptation.)

well...most of the time its done is to make the “math work out” and in the past its paid dividends! Experimental physics catches up and shows the math intuition was sound (antiparticles, neutrino, etc). Unfortunately nowadays both cosmology & particle physics are at a point where experiments are either very hard & super expensive or (mostly!) there’s no know way to do them. So you make do with the math and hope it tells you something and experimental physics finds a means to catch up. Can you be full of crap in your math jiggles most certainly!

When you turn out the light at the end of the thread, make certain to close the dimensional door.
