I remember Alfrederick Hughes as a scoring machine during the mid-80s. He lead Loyola to the Sweet 16 in 1985 where they lost to Patrick Ewing's Georgetown tram. I believe he lead the nation in scoring that year. Mr. Hughes was a 1st round pick but was a bust. Loyola was the opponent of the Mississippi State team that snuck out of the state violating a court injunction to play Loyola at Michigan's State place during the 1962 NCAA tournament.

Loyola reminds me of Drake University’s 1969 final four team. They took Lew Alcindor (then) and UCLA to the wire in game one and then beat North Carolina in game two (back when they had a consolation game). I’ll be cheering for you until you play the Jayhawks (hopefully).
