Okay so what is the problem we fear most about our cell phones? Other than the battery blowing up in our pockets which is rare, the big fear is dropping your cell phone and breaking your screen. Sure, there are cases that help prevent that but it's not a perfect solution.
The fact is that shattered cell phone screens is the biggest problem with cell phones. And when they break, it can cost you HUNDREDS of dollars to replace. The screens themselves aren't all that expensive: you can get a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge replacement screen for between $20 and $40. What is expensive is the labor.
This VIDEO shows you a supposedly "easy" way to replace the screen but the sarcastic comments show it is far from easy.
So to me the obvious solution is to make cell phones with modular screens that simply pop into place when you need to replace a broken screen. Hopefully phone manufacturers of the near future will make such cell phones.
My big fear for my cell phone is that it is going to become sentient, develop a means to befriend and communicate with animals, and order the cats to kill us in our sleep.
Yeah you would think they would be easy to replace as a battery but oh no... Rotten bastards!
I hate to tell you but you are sort of right. Your cell phone can spy on you by listening in or via the cameras.
“Yeah you would think they would be easy to replace as a battery but oh no... Rotten bastards!”
You bought it.
If no one bought them they would make batteries easier to replace.
.
What?? And deny the cellular company their filthy lucre?
The cell company doesn’t make that money as much as companies that FIX those screens.
Yeah I know the battery is going to puke out in the $50 tablet and I’m going to buy something else pretty soon but oh well...
I want a future cell phone that actually TELLS me about a better deal for any store item I place in my shopping cart. Like, “Hey stupid! Don’t buy that gallon of Arizona tea for $2.90. You can get them for just $1.50 at Target with the Cartwheel discount.”
You can bet Amazon is working on that right now.
I ran over my phone with a 22,000 pound dozer.
thanks to Otterbox, all I had to do was clean the mud off of it
It depends on the phone. The motorola E4 has a battery which is trivial to replace.
Nightmare...
My big fear for my cell phone is that it is going to become sentient, develop a means to befriend and communicate with animals, and order the cats to kill us in our sleep.

Great point. This is how skynet failed. Why go through all the effort to industrialize when you can just make cats do all the work
They better work on their price of Arizona Tea. Take a look at what it is selling for on Amazon.
Best place to take them is a used phone store where they have done enough of them to have a good success rate.
I tried changing my S7 screen and the patient died.
It takes a steady hand and ability to do such tedious things.
I use to have that, today not so much.
re: battery replacing
My older Moto E required disassembly to replace the battery.
My newer LG has an easy-in-out slip-in battery.
I use Tracfone service and usually buy a new phone-package-deal every 2 or 3 years. I make few calls, so the package deals have more than enough. I usually get a new smartphone (LG is my preference) plus 1500 minutes in each text-talk-data and a year of service. My last one was $60. I usually purchase the package through QVC or HSN. On Tracfone, the left-over minutes will transfer. I have just under 4,000 accumulated minutes currently.
I have a MotorolaDroid Maxx 1080.
Im mulling the changing of its battery.
I think I can handle it but, I gotta find some snappy music like in this video.
(and a battery)
I bought a screen kit on eBay for 12 bucks. Screen, guitar pick, thin wire, and adhesive.
Hair dryer made all things gooey... piece of cake. It did take 4 hands tho’
I’ve also reconed my JBL D-140 bass speakers 4 times. I bought those in 1972.
But I know what y’all saying... The Geek SquIds wanted $250 to change the screen. that’s a mega-total rip-off.
BTW... I use an armored cover with screen plate...the phone wasn’t mine.
What model LG is that with a easy change battery?
I am interested in that.
