"GM, Ford and Fiat Chrysler are seeking just one grade of fuel: 95. That would eliminate today's grades, generally 87 octane for regular, 88-90 for midgrade and 91-94 for premium." "In testimony Friday before the House Energy and Commerce Committee's environment subcommittee, Dan Nicholson, General Motors' vice president of global propulsion systems, said making 95 octane the new regular aligns the U.S. with Europe and is one of the most affordable ways to boost fuel economy and lower greenhouse gas emissions."

Thanks for the response...well-written, and I couldn’t find anything in there I could get mad about :)

Yessireebob on the GM diesel fiasco of the very late 70/early 80s. The company I worked bought three Chevy C-10 pickups with those “diesels” all in the name of saving costs.

Those conversions were done with a V-8 Buick 351 gasoline block with little to no addressing of the internal pressure/strains that are so much higher in a diesel environment.

Saving costs? Those things were in our shop continually with broken you-name-it. I was astounded when my guy had the heads off one of those and saw there was only a 5-bolt surround holding the head onto the block...a “surround” being the roughly circular ring pattern head bolts form around one of the bores they are to service. And the head bolts were still puny, too.

I often wonder how many heads rolled after that marketing disaster. A blunder’s blunder.

I am greatly impressed by your uncle! And I remember the different blends at the gas pump at SUNOCO stations. The pumps were blue and gold or at least blue. I liked the Sunoco logo.

How about we get rid of the stupid regional boutique blends instead.

Been saying that for DECADES now! There are more than 57 (last I counted ..) REGIONAL "blends" of Gasoline mandated by the EPA.

ONE BLEND, NATIONWIDE would save us all $$$ at the pump. The pipeline system built largely in the 60's wasn't designed to move so many blends around the country. Cutting the number of blends to ONE eliminates so much of the logistical acrobatics to deliver fuel to parts of the country that gas should then be cheaper for everyone.

I use it a few times a week to make youtube videos into MP3 for my MP3 player. But I download/save youtube videos from time to time too. It works!

Good mp3 player >>>> https://tinyurl.com/ya2asno2 Get the red color one. More visible so harder to misplace.
