Oh yeah, read all of his books. I just finished the Saxxon series in December. Not a lot of time left in my day for reading but I got a library card when I saw my local library had them. GREAT story telling. Fascinating time in English history.
Yeah the Cromwell books are more action heroish. Obrian’s characters have very human failings while still being great story telling.
I’ve read most of the Saxon series. I’ve never read the Arthurian series. Thanks to your recommendation I am going to do that!
I watched a few episodes of the Uhtred series on TV...couldn’t get into it. It’s on Netflix now and may give it another go. None of the characters matched my imagination. I’ve read the books so many times I felt as if I knew them and these people were strangers.
Authentic.....with shrimp and sausage.
Ho!
So glad to see spring lamb on the menu - Melania knows what’s what! And I hope it is American lamb.
I have some Carolina Gold Rice here - I haven’t yet learned all its tricks so it comes out a little gummy. Less stock, perhaps.
Snails...
Seriously doubt there were Cajuns at the battle of New Orleans.
No such thing as jambalaya cooked in a New Orleans tradition.
Yum.

Seeing as New Orleans was affiliated with both France and Spain, and The French Quarter is in New Orleans, New Orleans style Jambalaya (a mix of Spanish and French influence) seems appropriate.
She wasn't invited.
"We fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down.
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.
We filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind."
“Sharpe is a British television series (1993-97) of stories set during the Napoleonic wars starring Sean Bean as Richard Sharpe, a fictional British soldier in the Napoleonic Wars. Sharpe is the hero of a number of novels by Bernard Cornwell; most, though not all, of the episodes are based on the books. Produced by Celtic Films and Picture Palace Films for the ITV network, the series was shot mainly in Crimea, a few episodes in Turkey, although some filming was also done in England, Portugal and Spain.”
I bought the set...came complete with a bayonet letter opener that I cut my hand on the first time I handled it. I didn’t expect it to be as sharp as a bayonet.
Have you watched “The Last Kingdom” TV series based on Cromwell’s Saxxon Stories featuring Uhtred of Bebbanburg? Both seasons are on Netflix, and it’s been renewed for a third.
They should serve him Beef Wellington. ;)
Holy crap, I’m surprised they even put something like that in a DVD set because I’m assuming it was manufactured in Britain. It’s probably a collector’s item now.
