My heart bleeds.
Edna Mode needs royalty payments for superhero garb.
Aside from the content of the article, Foy is incredible in the series. She plays the queen understated, classy and very smart.
She’s such a good actress that just the slightest raising of her eyebrow or almost unnoticeable inflection of her voice alone can completely change a scene.
And the actor who plays her husband is dreadful. Foy, at least, is talented.
I’m binge watching this series now. My first impression is, Wow, what a great series. I cannot think of a single mediocre to poor performance by any of the cast. Foy is wonderful as a young Queen Elizabeth. Her father, King George VI is wonderfully cast in the early part of season 1. John Lithgow is simply wonderful as Winston Churchill. Perhaps even on par with Gary Oldman’s performance last year in The Darkest Hour.
The series should continue to be awesome as the timeline continues to advance. I’m eager to see how the relationship between the sovereigns and the Margaret Thatcher led government. But, apparently that will be in season four and perhaps five.
On another note, but related, Netflix is my go to for entertainment now. There is some damn good movies and documentaries on there. Honestly blows the cable and satellite stuff out of the water.
Smith is in it? Hmph. Maybe I’ll give it a look.
Claire Foy was also just great as the doomed Anne Boelyn in the Masterpiece mini-series, Wolf Hall.
That’s absurd! Matt Smith is an established star, Foyle is not nearly so. Bigger name stars ALWAYS make more money than lesser known actors. This crap that women, whatever their star power, must be paid the same, just because they’re women, is ridiculous! Will that follow through in ALL work environments? If so, I guess free enterprise is dead, and communist equal wage rates for everyone (except the government) like Bernie wants, is coming soon. (On the plus side, actor’s agents will be pretty much unnecessary).
Claire Foy was excellent! Many great co-stars with her, but she carried “The Crown” both seasons.
