Vanity -Something everyone should agree on -Bring back the old style gas cans

The old style gasoline cans with the separate spout and vent worked fine. You could fill your lawnmower without spilling a drop. About ten years ago, the EPA mandated the new "environmentally friendly" gas cans. It is almost impossible to fill your lawnmower using these without spilling gasoline everywhere, including on the hot engine. I'll bet the new rule came from someone who never even cut their own lawn. How does spilling gasoline all over help the environment, your safety and your wallet? Bring back the old style cans!

Can anyone fill something using these new gas cans without spilling gasoline everywhere? They are another example of bad government rules that we just get used to. Let's see if we can change that.

Embrace Agenda 21, comrade.

You don’t need a gasoline anything. No lawn, no driveway.

I agree. I think they are dangerous, primarily because they do not work very well.

I have 16 old style 5 gallon gas cans.

I guard them as if they were gold.

I have to use a funnel to put gas from a can into
my honda Accord as the nozzle isn’t long enough to
get past the flap valve in the fill port.

Also I have one old style nozzle that I have to shift
around to fill various engines.

It’s like the whole light bulb thing, ridiculous!

Which is another thing, don't put that "gas" in a small engine, the ethanol ruins small engines.

Agreed but make the petition state the intent is to end any related regulation, not “bring back” anything. Get the EPA out of this.

I messed with the plastic spout on mine and something cracked. Ever since then it has worked very well.

I only buy gas cans at estate sales. You can often find the old metal ones. Also, Tractor Supply sells a kit with an old style nozzle and a vent cap to convert the crappy gas cans sold today to ones that actually work.

Anytime you're at a yard sale or a junk shop, and you find one. Buy one.

See the source image

The old metal ones are usually rusted, so these are best.

My son HATES them. Has had a lawn biz since he was 10. Swears under his breath every time he has to refuel.

This article is near and dear to my heart, bectause I use these gas cans to fill my tractor, my zero turn, my rider, my push mower, my chain saw, my push weedeater, my shoulder weedeater, my quadcycle and my rototiller.

I have seven cans. One has an air hole and the others are all one form or another of the new designs. Not only does the one not spill gas, but it come out clean and a LOT faster. I’ve even tried running a long tube into the filler spout or just use a funnel to do it, but I always spill gas and consider it a very dangerous proposition, with all of my cans except the one.

Gotta love fascism, and that is exactly what it is.
