The New Testament unhitched it really good for Christians. The New Testament Covenant fulfilled the Old Testament with the coming of Jesus.
There is a common misconception that one must be good to be born again when it often is just the opposite. There are no pre-conditions. One need only accept Jesus to become a born again Christian. Christians may have better accountability than other people but that is the only real difference.
Church is not a rest home for saints, church is a hospital for sinners.
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
Paul didn’t “unhitch” anything, he said we cannot save ourselves by keeping the law perfectly so we need grace.
It doesn’t mean the Old Testament laws are invalid.
Jesus quoted extensively from the Old Testament.
The Gospel writers used the Old Testament as a foundation for their writings.
Paul quoted the Old Testament.
Hebrews would not exist as text without the Old Testament.
I think I will “unhitch” from Andy Stanley.
Its the heresy of Marcion who wanted to purge Judaism from Christianity by having only the New Testament constitute the complete Bible. The Church repudiated.
In the 1930s, Nazi Christians sought to do the same thing.
The leadership of the church he pastors along with the entire congregation should immediately implement the church discipline procedures outlined in Matthew chapter 18.
If "pastor" Andy Stanley doesn't immediately recant and repent of all of his above heresies he should be fired and excommunicated from the church ASAP!
Andy Stanley is another false teacher and a wolf in sheep's clothing.
My heart goes out to his father, Pastor Charles Stanley. He must be grieved in his heart to see what a heretic his son is, how far he has fallen away from biblical Christianity and how many hundreds of thousands he is intentionally leading astray, many to a Christless eternity in hell.
See post 45; Andy Stanley is a HERITIC who should be fired from his pastoral position.
Well, there goes the letter to the Hebrews (for starters)!

As a preacher I once heard said, “A text without context is just a pretext.”
The context — the OT — is an important part of the story. Christianity did not start with the resurrection, or the day of Pentecost, or the nativity: God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world. Ephesians 1:4.
The New Testament is built upon the Old Testament..
The Old Testament is about self actualization and taking control of self, while the New Testament is about surrender to God.
One can not surrender their individual authority to God if they have not first claimed their individual authority from others trying to control them.
Freedom is necessary in order to grow spiritually.
Yes but he still has a problem because Saint Paul said that the kingdom of heaven is not for homosexuals. ...Unless of course you want to edit out the letters of Saint Paul.
He must have missed that whole Romans Chapter 1 thing.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Antinomianism - throw out the moral law and live any way you like.
Of course, there are the pesky parts of the New Testament that need to be cut out as well so his followers can fully enjoy a life of hedonism.
Megachurch Ping needed.
In this, he was quoting St. Augustine.
But why is homosexuality being normalized? What is the grand plan other than lowering birth rates? Does a homosexual culture make people more docile?
Heresy. There is still a ton that the Hebrew scripture teaches. Paul was talking about the OT in 2 Tim 3:16-17.
Was that preacher Sonny Pyles of Texas?
Why do you say no one could follow it perfectly? Dt. 30.11 says: For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.
