President Trump referred to MS-13 gang members as animals yesterday, 5/16/18. The media exploded against him, claiming he was referring to all immigrants as animals. As a complete transcript of the discussion proves, the media are wrong.
But was President Trump correct to call MS-13 members animals?
Well, all human beings are in the Animal Kingdom, so technically, science says we are all animals, even MS-13 members.
But Mr Trumps reference was not a definition, but rather a connotation, a use of the term that many people understand.
Most animals other than human beings have some common behavior that they are compelled by genetics to practice. They kill. However, with certain exceptions mostly related to self-defense, animals kill to eat. They generally do not kill just to kill. MS-13 members kill just to kill.
Also, animals do not generally torture other animals. And the vast majority of animals do not rape others. MS-13 members torture and rape just to torture and rape. So, technically, President Trump's connotation that MS-13 gang members are animals was not correct. Animals are much more humane that MS-13 gang members.
A more apt description of these savages is barbarous. But most Americans fully understood Mr Trump and agree with the concept he was effectively communicating. The media, on the other hand, are effectively communicating that they are in favor of the barbarism of MS-13 gang members. Maybe they are jealous that these barbarians are largely successful behaving in this uncivilized manner without fear of opposition.
Our enemies are laughing at us.
I freely admit that I haven't the foggiest notion of who Abraham Kuyper, Jr. is.
(Google, google, google....)
Prime Minister of the Netherlands between 1901 and 1905, an influential neo-Calvinist theologian and also a journalist.
Huh.
Enough for a fairly long Wikipedia article. On to the quote:
This image of God cannot be lost since, if man can lose it, he would at the moment of losing it, cease to be a human being. The image of God in the wider sense . . . has reference to the human in man, to that whereby man, in distinction from all other creatures, is man and not an angel or an animal or a plant.
Theological issues aside, the simple fact is that the set of creatures called "animals" includes humans by definition. Mammals are a kind of animal. Humans are mammals. Therefore, humans are animals, Q.E.D.
[[Therefore, humans are animals,]]
False- animals were not created with an eternal soul or a free will to choose eternal life- only mankind holds that distinction- God didn’t create animals in His image- only man- No animal created has the capacity to secure eternal life with it’s creator- The dictionary’s secular definition of animals is too general- it includes mankind when it is very clear from God’s word that mankind was created separately from animal kind- man was created after ‘God’s kind’ Not animal’s kind- animals were created after their own kinds-
You can stick to your narrow secular definition if you wish- but as for Me- I was created after the image of God- not animals- While i might share SOME physical characteristics with animals, I am certainly not an animal as I possess a soul which will live in eternity with my Creator whereas mere animals will not- and Animals do not share the same attributes of humans that God created uniquely in us humans- that is what separates us from the animal kinds. God didn’t die for animals- He died for people created in His Image
I certainly will do so in matters of biology, just as I do so in matters of astronomy, geology, physics, chemistry, etc.
Not animals, but vermin. Vermin have produced a career path with jobs in extermination. The MS13 vermin deserve nothing less than summary extermination when found.
Irrational, amoral human animals, the worst kind of animal.
You must have never had a cat.
You must have read right over the word generally.
