Actually, he did a flip, the firearm came out, and he
negligently discharged it when he picked it up. Poor holster choice, poor choice to be armed while drinking/partying, and poor training. One of the big 4 rules of firearm safety is you keep your finger off the trigger unless/until you are ready to fire.
But according to disarmament minded leftists, only law enforcement needs to be armed. Sorry, when they continue to demonstrate "skills" like these - I'll keep my firearms and count on defending myself.

Was he drunk, or rather was this FBI person drinking while armed? In my state it is against the law to be drinking while carrying.

In my state it is against the law to be drinking while carrying. Does that include FBI agents?

More embarrassment for the FBI. Sad what has happened to a previously respected institution. If those dedicated career FBI agents (who are actually the kind of agents we are proud of) want to save their agency, they need to step up. Or, they can continue to be suppressed and serve under the unethical, narcissistic, agenda-driven ‘leadership’ of people like Mueller and Comey, who just leave the FBI and make huge bucks ‘consulting’ or working for their huge law firms. Don't serve selfish morons. It's never worth it.

“Does that include FBI agents?”
We are all equal under the law. At least that’s what I used to think.

The criminally organized, terrorists and our all so corruptible political elite must be laughing themselves silly.

Don't know about alcohol consumption but you're right - alcohol and firearms (or any dangerous machinery) don't mix. Personally, if I'm going to go out and have a beer or two, or glass of wine with dinner I don't even bring my firearm with me in the car. If I am armed, I don't drink - not even a sip.
I've been handling firearms for going on 45 years now without any accidents or negligent discharges. I'm only this safe because my parents drilled proper handling, respect, and safety into me before I could even have a BB gun. It is just part of me. Clearly this agent forgot his training and made numerous bad choices throughout the evening. To me those bad choices are indications that being armed, even being an FBI agent of any kind, is not for him. If this is what it appears to be - and I don't see how it could be much else - I'd pull his badge & gun and fire him within an hour of reviewing the material.

This will soon read “former FBI Agent accidentally discharges firearm” = there’s no way he (or she?) doesn’t get fired or at best sent to a desk job.

"
. . . releasing the agent to an FBI supervisor."
That's probably who he was dancing with. Tepid reprimand letter in his personnel file to follow.

So an FBI agent accidentally discharged his firearm. Can’t the agent just claim he was in fear for his life?

1) You shouldnt allow your feet to go over your head while carrying.
2) Ever heard of a thumb-break holster?
3) Why in the world was your finger in the trigger guard unless you were ready to shoot?
4) Drining while carrying is almost a universally stupid idea.
This fool needs two weeks of dummy time on the range.
