Most of the stuff on this list is more-or-less dead already, so not devoting MS resources to the forums is probably a necessary business decision.
But my personal take on this is that it's -really- about aiming yet another arrow at the heart of Windows 7.
Microsoft is over-the-top desperate to force Win7 users to migrate to Win10.
I am fed up with Windows 10. Just found that MS installed a USER ACCOUNT without my permission. Deleted the ASP.NET account and the performance improved by a measurable 10%.
\sigh
I guess MS-DOS is out of the question............
What’s the big deal about killing off 7? I have 7 on one of my computers and I love it... Why are they forcing this?
Mr. Trump, PLEASE take an antitrust hammer to this monstrosity.
I ordered 2 Dell laptops with Win10. After trying to set up one, all the personal info and accounts you have to set up with MS I gave up. (I never did see Win10 loaded on the thing.) They are going back.
That sucks because this Win7 machine is about done. Not sure what’s next.
It would be better if they official admitted they don’t support Windows 7 than what they are doing:
And corporate IT departments do not like Windows 10, notably in any company involved in engineering. Maybe it’s time for the business sector to tell Microsoft “screw you, we’re going to UNIX”.
In spite of the jokes and comparing Vista with Windows ME (some of which I've made myself,) I never had a lick of trouble with Vista. The only reason I finally replaced my machine was because of Chrome no longer updating for Vista, and TurboTax no longer loading under Vista.
Otherwise, a ten year old PC with dual core processors was still doing everything I needed to have done. I could have loaded Windows 10 on it, but I didn't trust the hardware to last much longer. I've already replaced the power supply once, and rigged up fans inside to compensate for the dead fan on the video card.
In many respects, PC hardware has plateaued, and changes to the OS are just for the sake of change.
Had my 7 in the shop last week and the guy said he has a lot of customers, like me, who are trying to get ever ounce of life out of their 7 computers because they hate 10. Gates is trying his hardest to run off customers. He already ran off hubby to Linux when an unwanted 10 decided to download into his 7 and murdered it.
It’s not gonna happen for me. I’ll stick with Windows 7 even after MS stops supporting it.
