Seems to me the Soviets wanted the Korean peninsula for the ports access to the Pacific Ocean. Why would they help?
Curious questions at end, not surprising considering the source.
At the same time Truman was having to deal with all of the Soviet spies that FDR had embedded in the State Department and throughout the rest of the Federal government.
Pretty much like “The Deep State” Trump is also having to deal with.
Except unlike with Trump, Truman didn’t care to get rid of the spies, even trying to throw Whittaker Chambers under the bus to save Alger Hiss.
And there was tail-gunner Joe under attack by the RATs and the media.
