Malaysian Air Flight MH17: Families of victims say World Cup in Russia is ‘under a dark shadow’

The families of Australian victims of the MH17 tragedy have written a heartbreaking open letter warning soccer fans this year's World Cup in Russia is “under a dark shadow”.

In May, prosecutors investigating the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over eastern Ukraine in 2014 say they identified the missile used to shoot down the plane as coming from a Russian military unit.

All aboard died, two thirds of them Dutch and 38 of them Australian residents.

“That a sophisticated weapon belonging to the Russian Army was dispatched and used to shoot down a civilian aircraft should be of grave international concern,” Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said in response to the latest report.

The letter also details the impact the Russian missile has had on the families left behind.

“Despite it being nearly four years since our lives were shattered, we struggle to comprehend what happened. The people we love were killed in a war, a war in which they were not combatants, a war they had nothing to do with. We know they are not the only victims of this confrontation.

Some of us who write these words are passionate followers of football, others are not. But none of us will be able to share in this World Cup in the way we would have done before. We have something in common that gives this event and the place in which it is held, a different, darker meaning,” the letter reads.

“On July 17, 2014 Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine. Two hundred and ninety eight people were killed. Among the bodies lying among the debris and fields of sunflowers were our children, our partners, our brothers and sisters, our parents.”

Thanks thoughtomator, I studied 20th Century Propaganda in Art as part of my major in college and now have an interest in post-Soviet Russian disinformation (which also spreads on this site.) I joined FreeRepublic when I was in college and the tone of this website has changed.

1) Due to severe disillusionment with Obama and Republican Establishment. Everyone got very pessimistic. 2) Because Russia’s false advertising of itself as an alternative to the NWO has actually worked to deceive people.

The situation in East Ukraine is catastrophic and the Ukraine-Russia situation has not gotten a fair shake whatsoever because of pro-Putin narratives framing everything as a Soros/McCain plot, when it isn’t. (Though I will grant you that some of the initial stuff was.)

It also doesn’t help that America’s Deep State blurs the reality of the threat Russia poses with the Mueller-fake collusion stuff.

The MH17 plane crash is just one event of many that needs to be accounted for.
