Alert: $4 Billion Worth Of Waste Found In Food Stamp Program
It’s very hard to come up with a list of things that the federal government gets right.
Government is simply too big and there’s just no way this bloated bureaucracy can be counted on to be efficient.
That’s a big reason that Trump was elected. The American people are tired of the waste, fraud, and abuse in Washington.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) spent a total of $4 billion on improper food stamp payments to those receiving benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the USDA confirmed with Breitbart News on Friday.
The USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service announced this week that improper payments made up 6.3 percent of SNAP money in the fiscal year (FY) 2017—the latest data available from the agency.
Breitbart News analyzed the USDA’s data on food stamp spending and found that $4,007,026,532 of the $63,603,595,754 the agency spent on SNAP in FY 2017 went to improper payments.
The USDA told Breitbart News that “it is important to note that improper payments include both overpayments and underpayments,” meaning that households on SNAP that received less than what they were supposed to receive for the month are also included in the percentage rate.
Taxpayer money down the drain.
4 billion dollars might not seem like a lot of money when it comes to government spending but that’s an enormous amount of money.
Just think of all the other things that money could have gone toward.
It’s just remarkable that stories like this don’t get more attention.
We all understand the importance of a safety net but there’s no excuse for wasting taxpayer money like this.

American grown/produced purchases only with FS.
This crap has been going for quite some time. Of course the last admin probably encouraged it, in the hopes of luring new voters.
I wonder if the current administration is looking into the muslims in Dearborn? Guy has 3 or 4 wives, all of whom are on assistance in every way because they’re refugees and all of them getting checks. Not sure what a weekly amount someone gets on an EBT card, but I’m sure if you had 3 or 4 of them coming in, it’s probably a nice little check.

There was a supposed Trump proposal about a few months ago whereby food stamp users would actually get a box of FOOD. No cash, or debit card, just a box of flour, vegetables, eggs, oil, etc....
Haven't seen any news no this since. That would go a long way towards eliminating fraud.
Food Stamps, Welfare, Medicaid - they’ve all been abused and the abuse has been ignored for years to the peril of the taxpayers’ pocketbook. Social Services agencies love to get as many people as they can on the public dole. That way they perpetuate and grow their agencies.

If Hillary lost 6 billion of State Department money and nobody found any of it, how much waste is really in food stamps, if the same kind of accountants, admit to finding 4 billion in waste?
63 billion to feed Americans. Holy crap.
Stop the program today. Just stop it. Then we can begin to find out who is really hungry and do something about it.

It was known and allowed, because the government agencies saw it as reparations that were deserved.
Why is it that Government employees cannot be arrested for their negligence? The loss of 4 billion dollars is a lot of bucks to us little people.

$4B is couch cushion money. The entire welfare system is a cesspool of corruption, and has been since FDR. Trillions of $ have been flushed down the toilet.
