Monarchy is retarded. The Brits need to worry about Islam like Churchill warned. The Monarchy will be in exile by 2050 if not sooner.

Wouldn’t\couldn’t she avoid the 12 day disruption by passing the crown NOW?

I found a letter in an old box of junk I bought from some guy in Wisconsin. Rolled inside a paper towel tube was a letter dated 1887 from Grover Cleveland to Queen Victoria congratulating her on her Cherry Jubilee. An auction house confirmed its authenticity and said it could bring upwards of $7000 from the right buyer. Any takers?

This could almost be as disastrous as Y2K.

> Most people have no clue how much power the Queen has quietly wielded over 60+ years, almost always to the benefit of civilization. <

Interesting. Any examples?

QE2 brings stability and focus for the crumbled Empire and a world that’s changed what seems impossibly in her lifetime. She remains above it all in spite of a really weird family and a nation hell-bent on self destruction. What has she ever done that has harmed her nation?

Disruptive? The passing of the whole inbred monarchy should be a new independence day for the British. Maybe they could then start taking back their country and restoring it to power and prestige it has lost over the last 50-plus years of the Queen’s “rule”. Good riddance to all of them.

“... the portraits of Charles will already have been made in preparation.”

Charles in charge. God help them.

She’s probably got another decade and will long have given up her role by then.

The queen brings stability and focus? No, she has lulled them into be frogs in a pot of warming water. They have surrendered their country, stood by while it was merged with the European Union, then invaded by hordes of people that do not remotely share their values and culture.

Maybe it isn't just the monarchy as we've had to save them in two world wars, likely be faced with choice of helping or watching them fall again in the future. Maybe it's the people?

If Wallis Simpson had not been so sexually skilled and kinky, Elizabeth’s reign may not have happened.

Your take has a lot of validity. I wonder if the Brits have in fact already choked on their own Empire. Even without the current invasion, they'd be overwhelmed in time by legal escapees from their former and present possessions.

I've been studying a lot of European History since the fall of Rome. It's not what we learned in HS and College. Britain has a history of ruthlessness and horrible meddling intertwined with the incredible greatness in all fields of endeavor in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Their meddling and expansion caused chaos in Africa and the Mideast that exists today.

Perhaps your take on QE2 is correct. It's an open question whether she's enabled the destruction of England or kept it steady during a period of irreversible decline. History will decide.

The British rule was harsh. Anyone who thinks they were not brutal lords is sadly mistaken.

What a great find! I’d be very interesting in learning why it was never sent out.

Wondering, did some historical event occur that took his attention, then he forgot about it?

The British national anthem will change.”God Save The Queen” will get some new lyrics — or some old ones, rather. It will become “God Save The King.”

I think the country will be able to handle it. King Charles will only have been waiting 75 years or so of life, training for this moment. If you’re going to have royalty, people you believe are closer to Gd than you are, trust them! Remember! Royals are above humans and just under angels. So they’ve got this, Brits.

Charles will immediately call for the mass immigration of all muslims and surrender England to them.

“Thank you, Your Honor. Protecting the Queen’s safety is a task that is gladly accepted by Police Squad. No matter how silly the idea of having a queen might be to us, as Americans we must be gracious and considerate hosts.”

That’s one of my favorite lines in that movie. And there are so many of them. (That’s the movie with “Nice beaver!” “Thanks! I just had it stuffed.”)

I also love the gift Los Angeles presented to the Queen on her arrival. A Revolutionary War Musket on a plaque. Good day to think about it!
