My Proposal for dealing with Abortion Issue.
self ^ | 7/6/18 | BRL

Posted on 07/06/2018 4:40:06 AM PDT by BRL

My Proposal to deal with Abortion and take it off the table politically:

Given that we may likely see Roe vs. Wade overturned when RBG leaves the court how can we take this issue off the table?

The republicans in congress and the president should write a constitutional amendment with the following wording:

Abortion shall be legal up to 13 weeks after conception. All other laws dealing with abortion shall be left to the individual states

It gets put to the states and they have 7 years for 36 states to agree. If after 7 years 36 states do not pass this then abortion is dead. At that point the people have decided if abortion is a constitutional right. If the democrats don't like the 13 week restriction , then let them alter the time frame, at which point it becomes less likely to pass. The court is now conservative and we take off the table that the court is stripping our constitutional rights. The dems are gonna hate it because it may pass at 13 weeks and they will hate that and they know if they push it to 30 weeks it will not pass.

Why kill an innocent child at any time? A better idea would be to educate the public that Roe vs. Wade is about whether abortion is a federal matter, or one that each state can individually decide. Most people think that it is about “outlawing abortion” which is completely false. We need to consentrate our efforts in repeating over and over the true meaning of Roe vs. Wade until the average uninformed voter who casually listens to the MSM gets it. Knowledge is power.

No and hell no! Its a states rights issue, overturn Roe and the feds stay out of it.

Destroy the democrat party’s #1 issue and be done with it.

“We should face up to the fact that Roe v. Wade was based on faulty reasoning...”

Didn’t Ginsberg admit as much at one time (when it was too late, of course).

I support a Constitutional Amendment banning it in all forms now and forever.

“I find it interesting if the Mars rover finds a clump of cells thriving on Mars it would be headlines of “Life On Mars,” but do not consider a clump of cells going into a person inside a woman as “Life””

Great point.

I think, if I were POTUS, and we still held a majority of the state governors and a majority of state legislative bodies, I would call them all together for a meeting with those governors and those GOP members of the state legislatures where we hold a majority. Also attending would be the GOP members of the House and the Senate.

I would set your idea before them, written up as legislation. I would ask them to go back to their jobs and immediately put that legislation on the table and work feverishly to get it passed immediately. I would want to set it up the GOP was prepared to offer that amendment and it was up to the Dim controlled state legislatures to go along or not.

I think speed would be on our side, and the public would pressure the Dims to not wait, to get the decision settled by the people and no longer a court controversy.

Any one who wishes to discuss rvwade should read the verdict and read the entire case. It is an upholdong of the laws as written. The right to a speedy trail, the right to due process, the right to be secure in ones person, etc. and had very little to do with killing an unborn, the lawyers twisted this in 12 different spins and didnt highlight it was the right to kill an unborn.

At around 13 weeks, there begins complex response to pain.

After implantation, the zygote has to actively be dislodged.

These are good markers for the discussion. Prior to implantation, the zygote is just floating around in there and can wash out. After about 13 weeks the case that it isn’t a living human is very hard to make.

Don’t, as the poster suggested, pronounce abortion legal until 13 weeks, but rather pronounce it firmly illegal after that point. Leave it to the states to figure it out with more refinement.

As it is said, don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and in so doing take nothing in an all-or-nothing situation.

Child sacrifice has been the trademark of Satan for thousands of years.

It is significantly tied to the notion of consequence free sex.

The country must return to God or perish.

See my tagline.

Roe v Wade has been in effect for 45 years. In all that time the decision has stood up and not seriously challenged.

Exactly. No matter what you think of it, it will not be overturned. Who would have standing? All those with standing are not living.

I agree it is a scare tactic.

"Abortion will not cease to exist if the Supreme Court overturns this"

Yes, but it will no longer be federally sanctioned - easier to promote sane reasoning one state at a time.

"If 15 states say no then it is no forever."

So, you're a "science denier"?
My original statement that science is not decided by public polls is still valid. Even if 50 states say yes, it is still the taking of an innocent life.

By Occam’s razor, life begins at conception.

Anything else is a political, man-made, compromise.

With all due respect, your proposal sucks. As a pro-lifer, I would favor a constitutional amendment recognizing a nationwide right to life and banning abortion throughout the country. Since that ain’t happening, the next-best thing is overturning Roe and kicking the issue back to the states. The blue states will enshrine legal abortion. The red states will mostly curb it. And the purplish states will work out their own compromises.

You are correct. And is that is going on the Republican party will be eviscerated and destroyed by the rhetoric of the left saying that the Republicans are trying to steal all of our constitutional rights
