You are truly missing the point here. How many times does it need to be explained to you???

STATE LAW is not the guiding force here. HOA BY-laws are, which supposedly Ms. Edwards signed and agreed to, which includes only authorized access to the pool. Authorized access is determined by confirming one is a member of the HOA. Possession of a gate access card does not establish that.

If a bank employee asks me for ID, I will produce it. No LAW that says I have to, but the bank's policy of asking for ID is there to protect ME as a bank customer, just as confirming membership in the HOA and use of the pool is there to protect the members of the HOA. Showing the bank a non-photo gate access card wouldn't work, and shouldn't work for the pool, either.

If a liquor store clerk asks me for state-issued ID, I will produce it. Again, no LAW, but policy that if the clerk wants confirmation that I have the legal right to proceed with said alcohol purchase, they are within their rights to ask for it. Showing them a non-photo gate access card doesn't provide proof.

When I check into a hotel, I am asked for state issued ID before I get the key card to my room. There is no LAW that says I must do so, but it is for my protection. Likewise, if I show back up at the hotel and claim I have misplaced my key, I will not be given another key to the same room without producing a photo ID. There is no LAW that mandates this, but hotel rules and policies would not allow my identity to be safely established by showing a non-photo access card.

When I go to the college campus where I attend school, I have to provide a photo ID. No LAW, but the school is trying to protect me and other students by being sure I have the right to be where I am. Showing the school my pool card (with no name, photo, membership number, DOB, address, etc) would not be acceptable to the school....(a very large, highly respected private University, before you suggest backwoods bumpkin community college)

The examples of times a person is asked for ID to protect themselves or others when it is not required to do so by law could go on for days..... please stop saying that Ms. Edwards was not under any mandate of North Carolina law to show her state issued ID to a civilian. That is the most ridiculous, side-stepping bunch of drivel I have read. here today You are making yourself look sillier.

Sometimes the obvious isn’t really obvious.

In an episode of ‘Last Man Standing’ (BTW T Allen really slams BO & HRC whenever feasible),

A neighbor of ‘Allens’ is a Black retired Marine.
He shows up at the Sporting Goods Emporium that ‘Allen’ works at and - in order to give him EXCELLENT service on his first visit and knowing it was a new ‘market’ to crack, the Retired Marine was given ‘special treatment’ to win him over.

Every time he stopped at a display, this young White clerk would ask if he needed help.

(We REGULARS here can see where this went)

I have been asking myself the same thing about Blue House Sue for the last hour. Unfortunately, I haven't found any indication of a realistic answer yet.

Exactly.....

I believe that is why Mr. Bloom said (after the officer showed him that the key card worked) that it was good enough for him. He accepted the officer's actions as proof, even if they were not really what Ms. Edwards had been asked to do. He wasn't going to argue with the officer.

This is just another case of a person of color looking to start a fight to prove they too are a victim of the dreaded racism. If he had tossed her stuff over the fence, told her to GTFO, and called her a crack head in front of her kids, maybe he should lose his job. But, he didn’t.

The bank asks you for identification because the Know Your Customer provision of the Patriot Act requires it, and the bank asks each and every customer to present their ID.

The liquor store is required by law to confirm that all customers are of age, and they confirm age with every customer.

The Pool Chairman did not ask everyone for their ID, but only asked one person at the pool for ID.

“What hasn’t been proven is that she is actually a member of the HOA.”

If she was not a resident, why was she not arrested for trespassing?

I knew someone who bought into an HOA...He nicknamed his neighbors...The enforcer, the warden, the spy, the controller.

My acquaintance lasted a few years then bailed out of HOA hell.

As the rest of the story comes out, it appears that Ms. Edwards has made a few conflicting statements. I'll be curious to see how you justify these facts, Sue.

1. Her name is Jasmine Abhulimen, not Jasmine Edwards. I wonder why she would falsify her name? And why everything except this video was deleted from her facebook page? What is she hiding?

2. Ms. Abhulimen was initially approached by another patron at the pool who is a board member who did not recognize her. When the board member asked her address, Ms. Abhulimen replied with the name of a street in which no houses have yet been built in the development.

3. The board member than asked Mr. Bloom as pool chairman to approach Ms. Abhulimen to confirm that she was an authorized user of the pool, a volunteer position Mr.Bloom has been in for 7 years. When Mr. Bloom approached Ms. Abhulimen, the address she gave Mr. Bloom was different than the one she had told the board member. And interesting fact about the address she gave Mr. Bloom...(see #4 ).....

4. The address she provided to Mr. Bloom is several miles from Glenridge development. The non-Glenridge address is shown as her home of record on her (public record) voter registration. So she's lying about one or the other of these addresses.

OTHER INCORRECT STATEMENTS in your post:

1. Know Your Customer Act: Incorrect statement by you. Identity must only be established ONCE or in the case of any "large cash" transactions as determined by the IRS. (Cash/cash-like transactions in excess of $10,000.) Customers are not required by law to provide ID at every interaction with a bank. If they were, online banking would be a difficult thing to have in existence, wouldn't it? 2. Liquor stores are not required by law to confirm age with every customer. They are permitted by law to ask every customer for ID if they feel it is indicated, but not required by law to ID everyone.

3. Pool chairman: you still have not answered my previous comments on this. Was Ms. Edwards present for his entire shift and eavesdropping on his every interaction with every person there to be sure that she was the "only" one asked that day? If no, then Ms. Edward's statement that she was the only one asked has not been substantiated.

The "racial profiling" card only goes so far. .

"...Jasmine Abhulimen..."

OOPS! The whole “racist” story now begins to unravel, as they typically do.

Wow, let's try this again for a THIRD time, Sue.

Please refer back to post #148 that describes the difference between LAW and RULE. If I break the LAW, I may get arrested. if I break a RULE it's unlikely that I will get arrested.

Pool regulations under an HOA covenant are RULES , not LAWS. That's why she wasn't arrested. That's not to say the HOA didnt write her a letter of reprimand (if she *IS* a member), or restrict her privileges to the pool etc.

It's a pity that the chip on her shoulder has caused the pool to remain closed in July......Homeowners with kids on summer vacation have no access to the pool they pay for because of Ms. Abhulimen.

And you are still continuing to disregard that which has been stated many times on here. Please get your head out of your patootie and READ with an eye towards comprehension, not justification

. NO ONE HAS STATED SHE WAS NOT A RESIDENT, NOT EVEN MR. BLOOM, AND NO ONE HERE ON THIS THREAD. ALL THAT HAS HAPPENED (AND WHICH SHE REFUSED TO DO) WAS THAT SHE WAS ASKED TO PROVE HER ADDRESS AFTER SHE GAVE OUT 2 DIFFERENT ADDRESSES....ONE STREET WITHIN THE DEVELOPMENT THAT HAS NO HOUSES BUILT ON IT YET, AND THE OTHER, HER LEGAL HOME OF RECORD, WHICH IS *NOT* IN THE DEVELOPMENT.

You can ignore the parts of the story that don't fit your agenda, or twist the facts all you want, but being asked to provide proof of address that establishes a person's right to use a private pool is not racism. People of all races, genders, religions, sexual preferences, or whatever else who have been TRULY victims of racism must be either laughing themselves silly seeing stories like this, or very, very distressed at how absurd these claims of racism have become.

Racism will NEVER be solved without open dialogue, which does NOT mean that members of non-protected classes get lectured or threatened by those of the protected classes, such as Ms. Abhulimen did in the video. If anything, behavior and attitudes like hers are only contributing to racism.

Why didn’t the woman just...show her ID?!

Because she lied about her name and address.

She said her name was Sally Kirk. She continued using that name while talking with police. Then she told media outlets that her name was Jasmine Abhulimen. Later, she said her name is Jasmine Edwards, which is what she uses on her Facebook page.

She claimed to live at an address on a street that has no houses.

She couldn’t very well produce an ID under those circumstances. She’d have been arrested.

According to the Winston-Salem Journal Jasmine Abhulimen lives in the community.

“Bloom and Abhulimen both live in Glenridge community and were at the gated pool, which requires a keycard to gain access.”

I don’t believe it is illegal for Ms. Abhulimen to use an alias on social media.

Indeed. Funny how that happens, isn't it?

I'm sure Blue House Sue has very logical explanations for these actions/lies by Ms. Abhulimen. I've popped the popcorm and will be sitting back waiting with bated breath to see how these perfidies get explained away.

(insert eye-rolling smiley here.....)

G'nite, all.

In which post did I mention racism or cite the races of either Ms. Abhulimen or Chairman Bloom?

She had Sally Kirk’s key card. She claimed to be Sally Kirk, but later claimed to be Jasmine Abhulimen, and then Jasmine Edwards.

She lives in that community and is a member of the HOA.

Even Chairman Bloom has apologized.

“It’s just really hard for me to know I made another person feel that way,” Bloom said. “I express my sincere regret for the actions I took that day.”

That has not been proven. She lied about her name and address. She claimed three different names and two different addresses, but never supplied proof of any of her claims. What is her real name? Sally Kirk? Jasmine Abhulimen? Jasmine Edwards? Something else? Where did she get the key card? Did she borrow it from the real Sally Kirk?
