With the huge amount of news generated in this district, you’d think that there would be more mention that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was running against Republican Anthony Pappas. I managed to find this article, but information featuring his name is thin on the ground. But, it’s possible Joe Crowley, now running as an independent, and Ocasio might split the vote allowing a Republican to win.

It’s possible. Down in the backward Southern State I live in you have to get over 50%. Dollar Bill Jefferson had a strong opponent in the primary so the vote was split between him, his democratic rival and a no name republican by the name of Joseph Cao(pronounced gow as in ow that hurt). Jefferson and Cao were the top vote getters but when the run-off was held Jefferson’s supporters, you can imagine the types, did not bother to show up to vote and hence the US had it’s first Vietnamese Congressman. Of course Cao only lasted one term.

Thin as in non-existentially thin.

Anthony Pappas ran unopposed and has no intentions of competing for the seat. He has no campaign website, no campaign Facebook page, and hasn't even filed the necessary paperwork with the FEC required to accept donations.

As far as I can tell, his candidacy was nothing more than a forum to vent his anger towards a handful of NYC family court judges.
