Good point and probaby have the technology to do it. I’m glad Facebook, youtube, etc.,aren’t in the electrity business! It takes a special level of evil to do what they are brazenly doing.

Yeah, D.tube is really horrible, in more ways than one. While I CAN make it work, When I do find 1 out of 10,000 videos that might be worth watching, their buffering is 95% to 5% of playing video.

I’m on satellite internet, so I do expect occasional buffering issues, but at You Tube and Bit Chute, and the other video streaming sites, it is more the opposite with 5% buffering to 95% video playing.

Dtube has their stuff on a bunch of different servers, and shows a few seconds of video from one, then switches to another, over and over.

Facebook is just a website. Free Republic has a better name.
Spruce up the site and add what Facebook has without the tracking.

I don’t get your video reference. Frank Zappa sucks BTW.

Zappa was, objectively a musical genius.

You're the one who actually admitted here once that you listened to MICHAEL JACKSON in high school. Wasn't that you?

I gotta wonder if you're trying to make your name Mudd...like Sessions, thy name is Mudd.

Facebook is fine, it’s how we use it that is flawed.
FreeRepublic is not the place to go to teach the young, we have to do it on Facebook, we have to reach out to them.
FreeRepublic is where particular people congregate.
We have a FreeRepublic Facebook page, but not many people from here use it. There are people on our FR Facebook page that should be purged, they attack our own and nobody on FR stands up to these bullies.
I’ve tried to get people to post their ‘Likes’ address on FR’s Facebook page, but nobody seems interested.
When you ‘Share’ a post, you share it to your own FB page. Your friends don’t care about politics and they can’t argue with the people in the article’s original post. Many people are going to lie and the young will believe them, not you, because you are on your own FB page arguing with friends.

Trump is right, Fake news is used to create these riots and it was used by Google, Schmidt and Hillary to create the Arab Spring where over 500,000 people have died. Nobody listens to me on that either.

Try this. https://d.tube/

----------------------

Nineteen bucks to watch a video?

Some of them only cost a penny or two, but even at that it's just the hassle of having to set up yet another payment link.

No thanks

"Nineteen bucks to watch a video?..."

That's not how it works. You can watch the videos 'free' (assuming you can watch them at all, technologically speaking.) The 'prices listed are the cryptocurrency that the video has supposedly earned through 'profit sharing'... Kind of like 'BitCoin' but called "Steem Dollars'.

The more people that view, "like" and recommend your video on D.Tube, or your Blog Post on the Steeemit site, the more money you supposedly make.

Nonsense.

Anyone dependent upon Facebook to publish their business particulars has a failed business model.

There are multiple ways to reach customers over the Internet that have nothing to do with facebook.

And to compare Social Media to Nazi’s is laughable, thus showing your hyperbolic hysteria.

It’s like trying to argue MySpace is essential to free speech and commerce.

Grow up and get off Facebook.

“The masses will not look for it, and will simply accept whatever the big companies tell them. “

So, nothing has changed in 2000 years?

“So you are telling me that if the Jews had just stopped listening to Hitler’s radio broadcasts, it would have stopped him? “

That doesn’t even make sense. And a non sequitor to boot.

We’re talking a Social Media application here. And we have otherwise erudite conservatives asserting it’s an essential utility, a necessary conveyance of commerce and free speech.

And it’s just another MySpace.

Not sure what you mean. I just watched a few vids with no issues. I got this link for this alternate video site here on FR from another member. Seems to work fine for me but of course it isn’t the Youtube we know that has millions of established videos. It looks basically the same though.

I have no technical issues, but I have trust issues.

Thanks for your explanation. It sounds plausible. If I can independently confirm it that will be great. In the meantime I’m going to refrain from clicking on something with a displayed price on it. It seems like lately I have to cancel or reset at least one payment method per month due to unauthorized charges showing up.

Doesn't all that stuff you recommend we do require that we create an account with Facebook? (which ain't happening, obviously) Or is there a guest feature? When I follow your link I don't see the options you speak of.

Yessir.

We need to man-up, swallow hard, and push for legislation declaring these companies to be public utilities who must provide true “net neutrality”.

By the time Conservative alternatives are developed the country will be lost. Don’t let the Alinskyites hoist us on the petard of our own virtue.

American business needs to learn the hard way that too often they’ve backed the wrong horse.

That doesn’t even make sense. And a non sequitor to boot.

Apparently it makes sense to at least one other person. If they can understand it, but you cannot, perhaps you need to think about it a bit more?

We’re talking a Social Media application here. And we have otherwise erudite conservatives asserting it’s an essential utility, a necessary conveyance of commerce and free speech.

What public speech is "essential"? How do you know when public speech is "essential" or not? Who is to say what speech might influence people to see things in the proper manner?

And it’s just another MySpace.

Synergy.

Synergy works for the other side too. By denying people legitimacy on one platform, it increases the chances of their being denied legitimacy on other platforms. Another applicable term is "preference cascade."

Negative reinforcement creates a "preference Cascade" against the "out" group, further marginalizing it's ability to be heard.
