SANFORD, Fla. A herd of 16 cows helped police officers in Florida corral a fleeing suspect who bailed out of a car and ran through a pasture.
A Seminole County Sheriffs helicopter captured the Sunday night incident on video as the crew gave play-by-play to officers on the ground.
A crew member offered this nugget to pursuing officers: If you see a large group of cows, theyre literally following her.
The cows eventually ran Jennifer Anne Kaufman into a fence, where police were waiting to arrest her.
An arrest report shows the car Kaufman was in crashed during a police pursuit. A second suspect was captured by a K-9 and arrested.
Kaufman is being held on a $4,500 bond. Charges against her include resisting an officer and drug possession.

Cows and steers are not territorial, but they do love food, of course, and I used to hand-feed two steers regularly. They used to come when I called them because they thought they might get some oats, rather than more boring old greenery!
Not bad pets, but more useful as steaks.
I think this was a city-slicker human (or some variant of same) who simply didn’t know that the cows/steers were just hungry or curious. The infrared video is pretty amusing to someone who knows such critters!

16 cows wouldn’t be considered a herd in many places.

I see a job opportunity for Police Cows.
Holy Cow, the BooVine Unit is here.
Their vans would have to be a little bigger than the K9s though.

How she was apprehended is irrelevant, you might say it is a MOOT point...

I used to live in Seminole County. Those damn copters would fly over our place every Fri and Sat nights and shine the spot light on us as we hung out by the lake. They don’t just use them for chases. They do sky patrols every weekend. Sometimes they’d come over 100 foot above after 10pm and wake anyone up that might have been trying to sleep. So glad I left that place. I can go more than a year out here on the boonies without hearing a siren.

Knocked on a farmer's door once to tell him his cows were all over the road.
Thought I would see a thrill show with cowboys roping and herding, a treat for a city boy like me.
But no, he came out to the house by himself, on foot, with a white plastic bucket in his hand. The whole herd meekly followed him back through the gate...
