This would be the first Air Force recipient of the Medal of Honor since Vietnam. They’ve been a bit stingy with that medal, in my opinion. Only four people in the Iraq war have been recipients for example, and all were posthumous. I think the criteria should be strict but not quite that strict.
They could not defeat him. All they could do was kill him.
This is honestly the first time I have ever seen video of an actual attack that later brought not one but two MOH awards. I am in awe of the bravery and heroism exhibited by their actions.
