Lifelong bachelor checking in here.
Most women today are afflicted with a massive sense of entitlement. It’s always about them and their needs.
Compliance with their every demand is not enough. One must learn to anticipate these whims.
It’s almost impossible to find anything to work with when you’re dealing with people afflicted with such attitudes.
I have seen good and decent men nagged into their graves.
I live a lonely life. But if that’s the price for not being a slave, I pay it willingly.

what one has to do depends on the phase of the relationship
security phase:
long term commitment
expectation phase:
fulfill expectations, hopes, promises, criteria
avoid stacking up disappointments so that you don't go over threshold

Depends mostly on how the husband treats his wife.
* * * Great wisdom in that.
William Wordsworth wrote his poem showing a man's maturing wisdom on the subject (in three stages):
She Was a Phantom of Delight by William Wordsworth
|
|
She was a Phantom of delight When first she gleamed upon my sight; A lovely Apparition, sent To be a moment's ornament; Her eyes as stars of Twilight fair; Like Twilight's, too, her dusky hair; But all things else about her drawn From May-time and the cheerful Dawn; A dancing Shape, an Image gay, To haunt, to startle, and way-lay.
I saw her upon nearer view, A Spirit, yet a Woman too! Her household motions light and free, And steps of virgin-liberty; A countenance in which did meet
|
Sweet records, promises as sweet; A Creature not too bright or good For human nature's daily food; For transient sorrows, simple wiles, Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears, and smiles.
And now I see with eye serene The very pulse of the machine; A Being breathing thoughtful breath, A Traveller between life and death; The reason firm, the temperate will, Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill; A perfect Woman, nobly planned, To warn, to comfort, and command; And yet a Spirit still, and bright With something of angelic light. |

She would be kind.
He would be kind.
Kindness is the most underrated and overlooked of the virtues but it is the key that will hold everything together.

Unless you find the one man not into food, sex, or feeling wanted. You couldn't figure that out before you said, "Yes" ?
(OK, I'll *admit* I don't know whether or not you had an arranged marriage...)

How about one that is mature enough to not have to ask such childishly stupid questions.
Adults know how to behave and don’t need Cosmopolitan type of reading to figure it out.

No. And I asked other people for approval too. Im happy to take the blame for picking wrong, but men lie too. (Hanging head.) There's a comedy team that has played the Minnesota Renaissance Festival for ages and ages, called "Puke and Snot". Swashbuckling, bawdy humor.
They have a schtick where one of the is going to run for office, and he says he's against choice.
The other guy is aghast. "You're against a woman's *right to choose*?"
"Of course. Just look at the audience and see some of the bozos these women have chosen!"

Funny. Yeah, I was trying to choose better but I blew it. Marriage may not be my thing. I always thought Id be a pretty good wife, only getting cranky when tired, and giving the appropriate warnings when Ive lost the ability to make a good mood due to pain or fatigue or stress. And I love a lot of things guys love. Except baseball. And I love when guys go do their guy things without me.
