Never heard anyone but Anita Bryant do it.It’s one of the truly great “pop” songs of the 50s/60s.
I’m married and she’s married, but if we weren’t, I’d be knocking on her front door with a bunch of real roses.
And she’d be yelling through the front door for me to get away from her front door.
My late uncle really loved Anita Bryant.
He was in charge of maintenance at a large hotel where many celebrities stayed. For the most part they were needy, whiny prima-donnas who demanded special attention and were generally obnoxious. Drove him nuts.
Not Anita. He said she was the nicest celebrity who ever stayed there. Totally kind and considerate to himself and the rest of the staff.
