I read the article. Nobody stopped her from pressing charges. She decided she didn’t want to go through the justice system. That’s a decision she has to live with.
Tough to be 18 and take on a united industry AND the perpetrator’s fan base, some of whom continuously harass and threaten her, including threats to her 8 year old son. She notes there’s another public (underage) accuser whose story is similar and that there’s social pressure for the appearance of 60 or so victims or else, “it didn’t happen.”
I agree, and I totally believe her.
In 2007, Vanity Fair magazine published "Mad About The Boys" detailing extensive allegations that Pearlman molested some of his young boy band members. Pearlman publicly addressed the allegations in a 2014 prison interview with The Hollywood Reporter magazine, claiming they were unsubstantiated, and that he'd never been accused of such by anyone he'd helped succeed. Vanity Fair, Pearlman claimed, had only interviewed "people that had a grudge."
The Hollywood Reporter noted Pearlman's "well-documented track record of robbing his artists blind" and rumours of his predilection for "buff, blond boys in his entourage", while a ten-year relationship with a former nurse, Tammie Hilton, remained unconsummated. "He was very religious," Hilton said.
However, in a 2009 interview with Howard Stern, the former lead singer of band LFO, Rich Cronin, said that he'd only received a fraction of the money owed to him from record sales, and claimed that Pearlman had "wanted to bang everyone," and had attempted to seduce him multiple times.
” She decided she didnt want to go through the justice system.”
Do you comprehend why? Seems like you don’t, you continue to blame her and her only.
This story doesn’t sound quite right.
Read post 22.
I am sure Pearlman bears responsibility for establishing such a toxic environment.
I read the article, and question why she did not contact PD.
She is the victim and is responsible for (not) reporting.
She said why. Can you not comprehend?
She WAS a vulnerable young woman then...NOW she is an attention seeker!
Is there any proof that this occurred other than her statement? Any corroborating witnesses? Any physical evidence? She better have something, because she made serious accusations.
>>The all-American boys and girls who were being mass marketed to middle schoolers across the country made up a tight-knit community. We all knew each other or knew of each other, we all toured together, Schuman explained. In regards to the industry and the people who were working behind the scenes, its all the same people. People dont realize that theres a very small group of managers that are reputable, that can really get you where it is that you hope to go. Its a very small industry...
Wasn’t the boy band thing a payola scam largely run by one manager?
Don’t know...................
Ya, I read it the first time. What she wrote, sans evidence, is libel. If her story is true, she is very brave to come forward now, but even if true, if she doesn’t have evidence, then she opened herself to legal liability. I hope she has good representation because Carter is still a multimillionaire.
>>Im wondering though with the democratization of content distribution if she could work via YouTube/MySpace, etc. to cultivate an audience. Yes, its definitely a harder road, but for someone with some previous success, is that approach viable?
Not so much with youtube downthrottling page views and spotify selling the number one recommenation to Drake in all categories including Tuvan Doo Wop Rock Opera.
Spotify had heavy ownership from Sony and Warner Entertainment. Can’t have ‘unsigned’ artists breaking out and upsetting their rigged charts.
Didn’t know this - that is rotten!
