Who would be interested in something as boring as that?
With some creative programing, electronics and mechanical work, cars could someday baby sit/guard our kids anywhere and for extended periods. Get to work, leave the kid in the car. The car's onboard sensors and computer will sense the presence of a living being in the car. Figure out what it is and care for it accordingly. After a full day at work, return, disarm the car and find your baby all happy and watching videos of the Wiggles. This could save Tesla...
Yeah, I once walked up to a car — it vaguely looked like mine and parked very close. I noticed the dash was different and moved on.
A lady was dead certain I was casing her car. She threatened to call the police and wrote down my plate.
Another time I saw some guy stealing from a pickup truck. I reported it, and the store suspected me of being a theif who was ‘covering my tracks’. Had me, my car, and my plate photographed.

Right. All of this hand ringing and punitive attitude could cause more problems than solutions. It will be technology that ends up saving lives.
How about this? A law that all childrens’ booster seats be on the car roof, and you must give them umbrellas when you leave them handcuffed there.
I've got a very common SUV in a very common color (white). I've walked up to the car and been mystified that the door wouldn't open. You can guess the rest....

Remember, the SAFEST place for little kids is in the back seat...providing you ALWAYS remember that they’re there, and that anyone else, particularly grandparents, remember the same. If you (or especially your parents) get distracted, maybe shift a routine, you can always have comfort from the fact that your kid died in a ‘safe place’.
...also be interesting to see how many cases of ‘crib death’ happen in the hot months, versus the cooler months.

I did that too once. Good thing no one noticed.
Just the other day I was going to take a shopping cart for a lady to help her on her way. [I exercize in the parking lots a lot rather than sit around inside the car.]
I saw something shiny in the cart and assumed it was sequins on her purse.
would not recommend taking a cart with a purse in it. So I waited until she removed it. Then you know what I said?
“I can take your purse for you.”
She gaped at me.
Fortunately, she had seen me help others with their carts and laughed it off.
If the kid has heard a hellfire and brimstone minister every weeek, you could trust him with a bazooka. Kid would be scared to death of burning in hell if he blew up an innocent.
But most kids are raised on “I’m OK, You’re OK. / no one is evil / If it feels good, do it.”
