Ellis Island vetting passe.
“Rescued” meat trade dogs.
They’re bringing all sorts of bad things to our dogs.
The AKC is fighting to have stricter import laws and inspections.
They’ve imported the formerly extinct dog rabies to the US.
Way to go, liberals.

Over the next several weeks, the U.S. Congress will consider requiring enhanced health checks for dogs being imported into the Unites States.
These enhancements are urgently needed because a recent surge in pet imports has been linked directly to new outbreaks of disease including canine flu, an increase in instances of dogs with rabies - including the canine variant that had previously been thought eradicated in the U.S., brucellosis, and a variety of other threats to pet, human and livestock populations.
The AKC and the National Animal Interest Alliance are working together to support these enhancements, which include:
Clarifying administrative oversight of import protocols,
Requiring that rabies vaccinations and health certificates are signed by a competent veterinary authority, and
Establishing a centralized electronic database to track dog imports.
As an AKC club, the AKC Government Relations Department presents and speaks for your interests in Congress. However, it is critical that Members of Congress also hear directly from you, their voters. We urge you to review this letter to congressional leadership in support of the measure, and let us know if your club wishes to individually sign onto the letter.
