LOL — Swallows? They could have done it many millennia ago if that was the vector. The fact that such “importation” did not happen til recently leads me to believe that it came via import of Chinese products or people .. either unintentionally or intentionally.

Some people have immune systems capable of killing ticks - there were a few years when I killed deer ticks that bit me, and I’ve read about others. I’ve had Lyme twice, but not when I was killing ticks.

It seems like worthwhile research - fight off the vector before it regurgitates its disease load.
