“Carter was correcting Benzis behavior through verbal commands at the departments K9 office Saturday morning when the dog suddenly turned on him, “
Apparently, Benzi did not like what Carter said.
However, I’m not one to belive that a dog would attack his master because he did not like what was being said.
That leaves us with Carter hit or was otherwise abusing the dog.
Or it leaves us with “the dog was unstable”.
If he was screaming or bellowing commands right in the dog’s face I could see it I guess? But they sure take pains to stress that the discipline was verbal, ha. Not sure I buy it.

It's possible, not saying that's exactly what happened here since I don't know the dog or the officer and their interaction. I DO know German Shepherd traits though having had two in my lifetime.
Pure unsubstantiated speculation Sue
“That leaves us with Carter hit or was otherwise abusing the dog”
or had to often in the past and the dog had enough
“That leaves us with Carter hit or was otherwise abusing the dog.”
Yup. Check the dog’s body for bruises or other signs of abuse. Or the dog could have had mental issues. We may never know.
