Tesla stock falls as CEO appears to smoke marijuana on video

Shares of electric car maker Tesla Inc. fell more than 6 percent early Friday after the CEO appeared to smoke marijuana during an interview and the company’s accounting chief left after a month on the job.

CEO Elon Musk appeared on “The Joe Rogan Experience” overnight. About two hours into the podcast, which can be seen on YouTube, Musk inhales from what the host says is a combined marijuana-tobacco joint, which Rogan notes is legal. Rogan passes the joint to Musk, who also takes a sip of whiskey.

Shortly after smoking, Musk looks at his phone and laughs, telling Rogan he was getting texts from friends asking why he was smoking weed during the interview. Later Musk says he doesn’t notice any effect from the joint, which he claims he rarely smokes.

Thanks for your insight on the Thailand/underage sex issue, and Arthur C. Clarke’s perversion. I hadn’t been aware of any of that, and never read any of Clarke’s stuff.

Musk wants to make Tesla private. The stock was too high to realistically do that. If he purposely causes the stock value to crash, he could buy back at a much lower price. Hr may be playing the long con.

Well maybe he already is focused. He seems pretty happy, don’t be so linear.

“A pot smoking CEO? Who wouldn’t want to own some of that stock? lol”

Microsoft. Intel. Apple. Google. Facebook.

All those stocks have had pot smoking CEOs. And all have been good for shareholders.

Between them they have created AT LEAST 1/2 million millionaires. Probably a million.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Howard Hughes may been eccentric but he was brilliant and was a Patriot of the first order. Only Hughes could have pulled off the Glomar Explorer job of getting that Soviet sub as deep as it was.

Elon Mush could not lick Hughes’ shoes clean on his best day.

FWIW, I believe Musk is tired of being a CEO but has too much pride to call it quits on his own.

His stupid antics are a calculated move to be removed from certain responsibilities and retain his pride and ego and not be called a quitter.

And yet all it has done for you is make you dumber and more surly.

What's up with that?

Before you slander someone like Arthur C. Clark you might do a little research. I read the link but I would like to see the sources on this. Clarke could be rather eccentric but was he a pedophile. Surely if he was it would be there to see.

I ran across this link which indicated the opposite so I am not sure what to believe.

Need more info.

Seems unlikely with two senior exec departures today too and threat of lawsuit, not to mention the debt burden.

.
By my recollection, clarke was the leader of a huge commune in Srilanka in the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Hanging around you certainly has its downside, I'll grant you that, dopey.

Are you a really big tough guy too, or are you a keyboard specialist in that area as well?

Money doesn’t run my life anymore.....drugs either for that matter. Anybody that’s on that road is on the wrong one IMO.

He’s acting like a guy who’s watching the house he built burn down, knowing nothing is going to stop it.

And what of Spacex?

That thought had occurred to me. If someone is doing something that anyone could tell them would tank their stock price, then perhaps that is what they intended to happen.

But it wasn’t weed that made them millionaires. It was being in the right place at the right time and a lot of luck.

“But it wasn’t weed that made them millionaires.”

Correct.

Smoking weed never made anyone a millionaire.

But the comment was about CEOs who have been known to smoke pot.

The article which I originally read about Arthur C. Clarke was written by a guy who was in Thailand, and had found out that Arthur C. Clarke lived there, and so he bribed the owner of the property where Clark lived to allow him inside to look.

Apparently Clarke's stuff was all still there, and the author of the article waxed about some young boy who's picture he found and who was purported to be Clarke's lover.

It was sufficient evidence to convince me. I saw this article years ago, and it was written shortly after Clarke died. (Say about a year later.)
