Former Cruz Spokesman: 'It's Possible' O'Rourke Could Win
The Hill ^ | September 09, 2018

Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) former campaign spokesperson said that it’s “possible” for Cruz to lose his reelection bid to Democrat Beto O’Rourke.

Rick Tyler, who served as Cruz’s former communications director during his 2016 presidential run, appeared on MSNBC Sunday and admitted that Cruz could lose in the red state.

“As the former Cruz strategist, it does seem as though the signs are that Ted Cruz might actually lose this race?” MSNBC host Kasie Hunt asked.

Tyler said that even in a predominately Republican state, O’Rourke is posing a real challenge for the senator.

“It’s possible

The question of resources remains unanswered.

I see a comment by somebody who doesn’t like Cruz. Unless you linked to the wrong post, I don’t see any comments by anybody saying that they want Vato O’Rourke to win this race. And even if such people do exist, they’re hardly any different from rabid never-Trumpers who sound exactly like the Democrats who question Trump’s legitimacy as President.

Some people think Cruz is *not* a “natural born Citizen,” and others think that Cruz *is* a “natural born Citizen.” Different people have different strongly held beliefs.

I’m convinced that he is. This explanation seems sound:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2016/01/07/yes-ted-cruz-is-a-natural-born-citizen/

If Cruz is now a citizen of the US, and he was not a natural born citizen of the US, then when specifically was his natural-ization proceeding? If he never had one, then he is either not currently a natural born US citizen, or he has always been one.

In the end, it may take the US Supreme Court to define the term “natural born Citizen,” as it pertains to Ted Cruz.

Where did I ever say anything about O’Rourke? I didn’t. You’re arguing against something I never said. Whatever.

You claimed (without evidence) that people hate Cruz so much that they'd rather have a Democrat win. The Democrat running against Cruz at this time happens to be O'Rourke. Now, technically you didn't say "O'Rourke", but try putting two and two together.

when I hear that Texas of all places have the possibility of booting Cruz for some really petty and foolish reasons, you are darn right I will rip those people for being petty and foolish.

In short, I think you’re jumping the gun with your reaction to the original post.

No one is “booting” Cruz over some grudge or leftover hard feelings from the 2016 primary. Give your fellow conservatives some credit for having the plain horse sense to keep Cruz in his Senate seat.

The real problem here is one of voter complacency. Republicans dominate so strongly here, too many voters just assume they can stay home on election day, because we always win the big races.

Couple that with Cruz’ lackluster, near non-existent campaign, and suddenly we have a real possibility of losing a Senate seat to the Dems.

It’s got NOTHING to do with people’s past disagreements with Ted.

Maybe we should believe it if this is what it takes to go out and vote. Complacency kills us every time and right now we have a complacency problem. The Democrats don't. They're energized.

I've been watching Buto since last year......and observing all the excitement he's producing with the younger (dumber) generation and Hispanics. I've also been watching a relative, by marriage, who is up to their eyeballs in the Dem campaign machine.....and the only person they are passionately promoting is Buto.

O'Rourke's campaign learned from Abortion Barbie.....who never understood the older Hispanic community, at large, wasn't in the tank for her over abortion. Buto's focused on freebies for all, free college education for your kids, free healthcare and an open border so all your family/friends can come over. For the young 'uns, you've got his legalize/decriminalize pot and rock band gimmick.

Talking to my fellow Texans about how important it is to get Cruz voters out this year, I've run into nothing but stupid comments like Texas would never send a gun grabber to Washington.....aka: move on along, there's nothing to see here....O'Rourke's not a problem.

Damn fools.........

These numbers all assume that most eligible voters will turn out to vote, which is never the case in a state like TX with very low voter turnout among the large Hispanic population.

Bet that is NOT the case this year. The Hispanic community members I know are VERY excited about voting for Buto, to stop Trump, because too many of them believe Trump plans to kick even the LEGAL Hispanics out of the country.

And no, I'm not joking about this. Several people have made comments about how they are carrying their (and their children's) birth certificates, in case those evil Trump ICE/Border Patrol people try to take them to jail for being Hispanic.

The media/Dem's propaganda, has definitely been cultivated well, in certain parts of Texas.........

The only way O'Rourke wins if is Republicans stay home. I think the vast majority of Republicans know we need that seat and that staying home is NOT an option.

From your mouth.......to Texan's ears.

His speech at the convention is coming back to bite him. I was a Cruz supporter initially but I was pissed when he pulled his stunt at the convention.

That being said he needs to be re-elected. If Trump can support him I could. And deep red states can flip, look at Alabama.

I support Ted Cruz without reservation.

I wish I could vote for him, and I want you to know that means something, because I will never cast a another vote for my own senator, Marco Rubio, with my only vote for him being in 2010. I left 2016 ballot blank for him.

I detest Marco Rubio.

“All children born outside the country have to have paperwork.”

Don’t all children have to have some sort of “paperwork,” whether they’re born in a US hospital or an overseas hospital? I know my kids all have “paperwork.”

Demographics in Texas are worse than you think, this seat could easily flip if Republicans are disgruntled or apathetic.

Every day in Texas there are more Democrats and fewer Republicans than the day before.

TX problem is TURNOUT... 25 Million folks who could vote, less than 10 Million that do.... If TX flips, it will because of motivated D’s and apathetic GOP more than anything.

“The question of resources remains unanswered.”

Not true. As I pointed out, it is easier to keep a seat than to flip one.

No one can know with certainty how spending $XXXX in one state would buy a better result than spending it in another state. But a proven conservative in a conservative state should NOT have people sitting out because “I don’t like his personality”. Nor should Freepers encourage that sort of STUPIDITY.

If people would look at how he votes, compared to how Beto the Fake-O would vote, this would be simple. Instead, Freepers are encouraging folks to sit it out because they what? - wouldn’t want to have dinner with Ted Cruz?
